I've always assumed that in order to make your model believable, he had to have the harness across his chest to keep the jump pack on. Well I've been doing some image searches to get some ideas for extreme customization, and very few if any conversion models with jump packs have a harness. They jump replace the standard backpack with a jump pack.
Is this acceptable? I know it doesn't matter cuz its just a game but if I want to keep my army as realistic as possible, don't I need to use a harness chest piece?
Look at Dante & the Sanguinary Guard, or any of the other Blood Angel special characters, you can mag-lock a Jump Pack to Power Armour much the same way a regular backpack is connected.
Plus if you play Space Marine the harness doesn't appear when you're equipped with a jump pack. Also if you take a BT tabard and stick it on a Assault marine who's to say there isn't a harness underneath.
