I am thinking of starting a Black Templar army and I need help with creating an army list that would work well. I am thinking of playing them as a mechanised assualt force, so the use of Rhinos, Land Raiders/Crusaders, and also having some fast attack in their as well such as an assualt squad or two, I would also incorporate a Predator for anti-armour capabilities and/or a Vulnerable Dead with lascannons and a power fist. I have a Chaos player at my club that uses this tactic with his World Eater army and it works fantastically (but he uses Khorne Berzerkers). I have been reading into this type of army and my HQ would be a Chaplian and an Emperors Champion. I would then bulk out my army with a couple cursader squads and an assualt squad, my hard hitting guys would be an assualt termantor squad with 5 lightning claws/2 thunder hammers and storm shields lead by the Chaplain. I would also have a squad of Sword Brethern. What do you guys think and if it could be better I would like to hear your ideas.

I've only recently started a BT army and the best results I've had were with a similar list to yours.
The Crusader is a great choice, but if you've got enough points free I can recomend giving it to your Elite Assault Terminators as their dedicated transport. This will free up an extra Heavy slot. As for the HQ, I use a Marshall in Terminator armour with Lightning claws, a Chaplain and the Champion. All three of these start with the Assault Terminators in their Landraider. The marshall is a god send as whilst he's deployed ALL of your troops get a Leadership of 10. This is required because don't forget your troop squads have to make leadership rolls whenever they take casualties. (There's nothing as embarrasing as a unit of Black Templars losing one Neophyte and being forced to run away!)

Thanks for the input. I greatly appreciate it also should I have a devastator squad as well?
The Black Templar don't have Devastators....so no.
Thanks you guys. Okay so its out with the devastators so what do the BT have for anti-armour instead of having a missile launcer or a special weapons in the crusader squad?
Anti Armor for the Black Templars comes in a variety of forms, all with varying degrees of effectiveness.
Land Raider [Standard] Has twin-linked lascannons on the sponsons. Use these after you have dropped off your cargo. Forcing your opponent to deal with the bunker in its midst.
Vindicator launches a devastating pie-plate of death. It's range is mediocre, but if you couple the vehicle's movement in... it's still mediocre, but less so.
Predator Annihilator. Twin-linked lascannons on the turret and (optional) lascannon sponsons. This will do great for taking out armor, butit also increases its threat rating, so will be dealt with accordinly by your opponent.
Dreadnoughts can take lascannons. The problem is, if you are taking dreadnoughts, you aren't taking terminators. This is your call, but some folks really love their termies.
Land raider [Crusader] Can take a multi-melta. This can be useful, but is kind of a one-trick pony.
If I remember correctly, your sword brethren can take more than one heavy weapon. This is a bad idea though, because of the (over)cost of the sword brethren added to the cost of the heavy weapons. For me, pass.
Assault marines with melta bombs will stack up well. Since they will be flinging themselves bodily at your opponent anyway, they will likely be in the enemy's lines soon enough, and then clamping a melta-bomb on become a virtual guarantee of hurting that vehicle something fierce.
Just some opinions.
* "I'm Significant!" -screamed the dust speck
* "Call me old fashioned, but an evil ascension to power just isn't the same without someone chanting faux Latin in the background."
Assault Terminators are great fun. Can't recall if it's just the Terminator Command Squad or the Sword Bretheren as well, but I seem to remember they can take Tank Hunter and whilst Furious Assault doesn't stack with the +1 strength vow, Tank Hunter does.
Also, don't forget the Emperors Champion automatically gets +2 to his strength to begin with.
