Somehow, I am not very surprised. I think enough time has passed where people are starting to grasp how to play the new GK's. I'm actually surprised each list has a stormraven. Maybe I should start using my raven....or I can just shoot them down when I see them.

Congrats on running a successful tournament.

I too am surprised with the SRs. I know I don't like facing them with my DriagoWing because I end up with a nuked librarian, but I'm surprised to see such a strong showing of them. Ard Boyz Finals was the same, most GK list sported SRs.
What makes 40k fun is that sometimes, if we do it just right and lady luck smiles on us, rock will kick the **** out of paper. And thats the way it should be.

Stormravens are good. That's why you see them.

People worry so much about paying 200 pts for an AV 12 vehicle but forget that they can build an entire army list around them. Don't make the raven the focal point of your list, and it's just one more thing as opposed to THE thing.

Also, it may only be AV 12, but it is immune to melta double dice. And it's still a vehicle. Vehicles are very survivable in 5th edition 40K. You have to roll to hit, then to damage the AV, and then to get better than a 2 on your damage roll (because GK ravens are effectively immune to anything less than a 3). That's a lot of requirements to do even some amount of damage, let alone trying to actually kill it.

Of course it does happen, sometimes even on the very first shot taken at it. But that's not the most likely occurance.

I love storm ravens to death. They're awesome! The GK one blows the SR one out of the water (but not the air. Theirs is still better at AV warfare. D= )
