The hardest thing about the Grey Knight book, like with any other book, is finding what to do with the troops section. you needs a minimum 2 units. there are so many amazing things to choose from for the rest, but what do we do about the basic guys? Terminators are only marginally better at shooting because of the relentless special rule, but cost twice as much. GKSMs are a tad over costed with only 1 attack. Do we go for more survivability, or more models? Do you just grab a special character and take purifiers or paladins?
In 40k you need more than two troops choices IMO for objective capturing etc, so regardless of choice I would take 3 Squads or at least two full squads of 10 so you can Combat Squad split them. For a transport/mech list I like Crowe and Purifiers as my troop choice where the CC ability is more important, but for a deepstriking list I mix regular Knights with Termies. In my 1750 list I take 1 squad of 10 Termies (2 Psycannons CC weapon mix), 2 full squads of 10 Knights (2 Psycannons, DH on Justicar and Psybolts). Termies are better at CC, but I like the Dakka of regular Knights squads (twice as many S5 Storm bolters).
Grey Knights aren't the best army at CC or the best at shooting so you have to know your enemy's strengths and weaknesses and play accordingly.

20 S5 shots with a GKSS will put the hurt into any other unit. I normally have 2, 10 man GKSS with 2 psycannons and then a Term squad (5 or 10 depending on points) as body guards to my Lib. cause you can get the most out of them this way and still hold objectives.
