Hey guys I got into DA about 4 years ago and have seen some good success with a 2000 point death wing. When grey knights came out I decided to give them a go as a simple 2nd army, but the more I play with them and go other the codex I`m seeing that doing a deathwing-esque army with GK would be a better option. Also doing either raven or green wing is better to do awith the SM code.
Is it worth keeping a DA army ? I love the fluff, but I dont think they are competitive anymore.
Ravenwing and Deathwing are both quite good DA builds, if you do them right. With Greenwing, you're better off using them as a counts-as vanilla force.
That said, there are rumours going around that the DA will be getting a new book in the next year or so. I'd hang onto them.
You can do a better Ravenwing with the vanilla dex as well cause Kor'sarro of the white scars makes anything on bikes count as troops and he can take a command squad of bkes too.
I've found them pretty good over the years but I don't play tourney, just play against mates and have good success against them several times.
I find it is more how you use the army as opposed to to the list, but the SM codex is a lot more kind on the points.
I love the Company Veterans personally, and have found combined arms forces at 2000 can work if you use it, I'm still learning and will have some games again soon to test them out more. My friends orks will be shacking in their boots!!
Stick with it man. I have been playing DA since the combined BA/DA book! Fact of the matter is, we will get a new codex sooner than later. When we do there is bound to be some great new stuff in it, based on other codex chapters that have been rewriten.

Deathwing are also another change up compared to vanilla, they can mix options up in one squad, instead of having to do CC or shooty/CC.
I do agree with Respawne's comment tho, they can feel a little less competitive than the newer marine codexes, but it was the same way when DA's last codex came out, Combat squad was a new option, and soo was drop pods. I am sure when their new codex comes out, soon, that there will be some nice new ideas, toys, and gimmicks available to them to make them competitive again. All of these new codexes are making for some strong opposition again, GW is trying hard to bring back competitiveness to the tabletop.
