was just wondering what are some good sw tactics vs imp guard. i was thinking taking a lord with a jump pack and TH to go around poping vechiles, squads of hunters and wolf guard in drop pods, sky claws and long fangs with lascannons. basically any thing that get into combat quickley with out getting shot or sit back and take out vechiles. any thourghts?
Take the same, balanced list you'll normally take. Any balanced army shouold be capable of handling any kind of threat with the proper tactics.
Do you know whether you'll be facing mech or blob Guard? Assuming the former, you'd be better off with missile launchers than lascannons. Your Drop squads can open up the Chimeras, no problem, but after that you'll need some blast templates to finish the survivors before they can get a shot off. Setting up two-punches like this will pay off against every heavily-mechanized opponent.
Going with a high model count as you intend is probably a good choice. There's little point in bringing Terminators or Lone Wolves when we IG have so many special weapons, whilst those meltaguns can be drowned out by numbers. You don't even need power weapons, really.Overkill. We have no armor that cannot be killed by a handful of ordinary krak grenades. Give him a pair of those fancy lightning claws (frost blades?) instead, if you don't want to take advantage of our psychic helplessness. Bring a Whirlwind if Space Wolves have that option; all Guardsmen hate those things.a lord with a jump pack and TH to go around poping vechiles
