    Chimera Stand-Ins

So, I bet we've all seen clever models for Inquisitorial Acolytes, original Psykers, Daemonhosts; you name it, someone has probably made a custom Henchman out of it.

But what about Inquisitorial Chimeras? Has anyone seen/read about a good, conversion alternative to the Chimera?

Inquisition - 2250 Points: 9W/2D/0L - They are the eye that sleepeth not.
Necrons - 3000 Points: 13W/0D/0L - Death stands above me, whispering low...

Forgeworld make the inquisition door for the chimera with a big =][= on the back. Throw in a few of their photo etch brass inquisition symbols and you have a decent looking tank.

If you would like something looking different then go to these guys for a chimera conversion kit to make it look more like a soviet BMP. Ratgard Miniatures Design Bureau

Or try Chapterhouse for a wheeled Chimera Wheeled Conversion Kit for Chimera

If you don't want Chimera variants or conversion kits then look at the Hunchback and Kabardin from this manufacturer.

Or this baby from Secret Weapon Miniatures

6x6 Rapid Assault Vehicle - Complete Kit - $39.99 : Secret Weapon Miniatures

It's similar to the Chapter House model mentioned above, but it's the whole kit, so you don't also have to buy a Chimera.

Still more expensive, though... but I like the model, I bet it could make for a nice Razorback as well- different weapons and all.

Going for a WWII (so original, I know...) theme, how does this compare, size-wise, to a Chimera? It's 17.2cm in length.

That makes it 5.2cm longer than the Chimera (Chimera is 12cm).

I think I'm just attracted to the price tag ($11!). How many people would take serious offense to the extra length? And if you think it's problematic, I'm sure I could... reduce it.

Personally, I always let hobby rule over game technicalities unless the person has done it on purpose the gain an advantage. If you make your Chimera bigger, it just makes it easier for your opponent to shoot you, so it should be OK. I guess it all depends on the people you play against. Best ask them first.

If you're after cheaper than GW AND WWII, why not this:

1/35 US M113 APC CA140 (tam35040) Tamiya Plastic Model Military Vehicles (It's a smidgen more, but it's the right size)

(BTW - thanks for the website. Found a couple of ideas to fill in for Hydra flak tanks for my Traitor Guard)

I actually just found the site yesterday- I've been looking for LasPlasBack replacements, and was often annoyed that 1:48/1:35 Military often went for more than the GW models themselves!

(And the M113? Rhino, all the way. )

Just put in an order for a pair of them, plus the bits to convert them into Chimeras- Multilasers, Heavy Bolters, Purity Seals, etc. All in all, $41. So, I effectively got a second Chimera for $6.

    Not bad.

Hard not to be. Should look good in the end.
