Something i'm working on balancing in my minidex - customised Saints.
Looking for feedback on pricing and powers.
____________WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
Hieromartyr__7__7 3 3 3 7 6 10 2+
Basic wargear and rules:
Blessed weapon, Frag grenades, krak grenades, jump pack
3+ invulnerable save, eternal warrior, adds +1 to the army's faith pool.
No faith power (except with avatar of faith, below)
Special rules and abilities:
Any two of the following (each costs additional points)
Final Saction - Upon death the Saint may explode, inflicting S4 AP1 hits on all models (friend of foe) within D6"
(i'm considering making this a cheaper, less powerful effect)
Blade of Admonition - Any enemy models in base to base contact at the end of the assault phase are discounted for purposes of combat resolution.
(i'm going to be limiting this to a single chosen model - so it's a +1 combat resolution unless fighting heroes)
Relic of the Order - Strength 10 attacks in close combat
Inviolable Aura - Immune to shooting of S5 or lower (no effect in close combat)
Blessed be the Faithful - At the start of the game one superior gains +1 WS, Wound, Init, and Attack
No Forgiveness, No Respite - Gain an attack for each wound caused (as penitent engine)
Divine Convocation - During one random turn of the game, your opponent must reroll 6s
Avatar of Faith - One faith power, a laud hailer, and a simulacrum imperialis.
Currently the Hieromartyr is down as 130 points, plus 15 to 50 points for each of their two powers - for a final cost of 160 to 210 points.
Thoughts and suggestions welcome - if I get interest i'll start working though more of the units and send out the codex in progress to anyone who wants it.
Blade of Admonition was way too good, but now it's a little meh.
Relic of the order is still way to too good especially when combined with
No Forgiveness, No Respite for a possible 14 S10 power wounds on the charge.
Inviolable Aura is also way to good with the Invulnerable rule
Divine Convocation is a joke
Avatar of Faith is fine
40k: Silver Angels of Our Martyred Lady 7/2/3 - Daemons of the Great Squiggle! 3/1/0
Fantasy: Windhost of Athel'Loren 2/0/0 - Daemons of Another Great Squiggle! 0/0/0
Warmahordes: Legion of Everblight (Absylonia)
Relic of the order is still way to too good especially when combined with No Forgiveness, No Respite for a possible 14 S10 power wounds on the charge.
-hmm, it was mainly an anti-tank thing. An alternative was to fight as an MC (2d6 penetration) ... though 2d6+3 doesn't actually get you a great deal... combining it with a regular relic blade should do the trick.
Divine Convocation is a joke
-got to have a few cheap ones in there :p
Would probably be better if you could trigger it at the start of a turn, like the anti-waaugh. I could see it being a real sod of a power against some forces though, like orks, other sisters, or anyone with an investment in rending attacks.
