I know they're both founding chapters and I'm nearly fluent in their fluff, but whats the difference in their rules?

ba have a cursed gene seed, and sometimes they have sudden outbreaks, and they run at the enemy.
dark angels are good all around, and excel in defence then counter attack (they are not ment for cc, but they are not pushovers)
plasma junkies, wear robes, can feild plasma cannons in tactical squads
stubborn (fight to the last man), you can feild pure deathwing and pure ravenwing armies if you wish, also great fluff
Dark Angels Chapter
1st company - Deathwing (all in terminator armour)
2nd company - Ravenwing (all on bikes,attack bikes, and landspeeders)
3rd - Battle Company
4th - Battle Company
5th - Battle Company
6th - Reserve
7th - Reserve
8th - Reserve
9th - Reserve
10th - Scout Company
Yea ok, blood angels. when sanguinius was killed by horus the blood angels developed a flaw in their gene seed which makes them succecptible to fits of "the black Rage" in which they run towards the nearest enemy in an attempt to assault.(there F-ing crazy)
rules wise, when they charge they get +1 str and +1 initive but at the start of everyturn you must roll a d6 for every model(including tanks) but not dreadnoughts and on a roll of 1 they move d6 inched towards the enemy. this rule can be good or bad, either your assault units move faster or your hvy weapons have to move.
BA also have some special unit entrys and limitations.
A special unit is the death company. Before the start of the game you roll a d6 for every unit on the feild (excluding vehicles) and on a 4-5 one model is converted to the death company and on a 6 one joind the Dc and you roll again. Uf you have a vet. sargent in a squad that looses a member to the Dc then you can chose the vet. to go and have a pwr weapon or fist for free.
The Dc also have 2 base attacks, pistol+cc weapon, they are fearless and they have the ignore injury ability(exactly like khorne feel no pain.) they can jave jump packs or a rhino for free aswell, and unless they are led by a bA chaplin they must always move towards the enemy and assault.
Blood angels chaplins cost 180 points and come with an additional d3+ death company marines.
Blood angels have sanguinary high priests instead of apothicaries they cost something like 75 points and can use exsangiutors or some ***** ignore failed armor saves but if they fail the check then they and the model they were saving take a wound. they also have tha ability sanguiniuses chosen that says that any BA unit within d6 inches of the priest may re roll failed to hit when they charge into combat.
BA also have the furioso dreadnought(they have normal ones too) it has 2 dreadnought cc arms and it rolls 2d6 for armor pen its equpped w/ a melta gun and storm bolter for 95 pts.
Another BA special unit is the honor guard. instead of command squad they take an honor guard to follow a hq into battle the honor guard marines can be upgraded out the butt w/ power weapons and standard beares and whatnot.
BA can also take vet. assault squads which have the option for more special weapons then normal assault squads.
they can take only one normal scout squad, the others must be armed with close combat weapons.
BA libraians have the quickening ability(instead of smite) which makes them or one model in their unit get +d3 attacks that assault phase.
BA have the Baal class perdator it has twin linked autocannons and side sponsons of either hvy bolters or hvy flamers.
BA rhions and razorbacks have the overcharged engines ability which lets them make a difficult terrain test to move further then 12 inches. they also cost more.

Ok it depends,do you like assualt or shooty better.Dark Angels are more shooty but can be also deadly in assualt like a whole deathwing terminator army.The Blood Angels are just plain assualt,that's basicly it.I Dark Angels but I played a blood angel player he has basicly tanks and marines that assualt me he took out a big chunk out of my army.I was lucky though cuz I DS my 10 deathwing termies wiped out his whole army.Also Dark Angels are stubborn and blood angels have a blood rage to rush the enemy.
Simple answer: Blood angels are RED, dark angels are GREEN
Aside from the raven wing, deathwing, plasma cannon fetish, and robes, Dark angels are almost spiting images of 'codex astartes' (however you spell it). Im not as fluent on BA, but my general impression is they aren't exactly "normal" by any stretch of the imagination, however you can field a farily normal DA army without any stretch of the imagination.

In the new rules though, all marines will get plasma cannons in tactical squads. Blood angels and Dark Angels will therefore be almost the same... :blink:
dark angels get the great advantage of taking plasma cannons in teir tactical squads
