im a somewhat new GK player and I always get destroyed by tau any suggestions on beating them?
Would be much easier to give advice if you could post up a list of what you have available to work with?
Get into CC. you don't want a shooting match with them. They have a LOT more ranged weaponry than you but suck in CC.
1 Kaldor draigo
2 strike squads
the main problem is that the matches are 500 points and he always brings railguns and plasma rifles
also would it be a good idea to deepstrike one of the strike squads in?
i have a dreadknight too but most of the battles that they can run where i play are 500 points
500 points doesn't get much. What you need to do is drop draigo, he's expensive and is eating half your points straight off the bat. Get your self a cheap inquisitor and then get your self 2 strike squads with razorbacks (5/6 man) with psybolt heavy bolter and then give the squads inside psycannons Against tau you won't need many other upgrades, maybe a hammer but thats about it. Kit out your Inquisitor to how you see fit with the left over points.
Another option is using a standard Grand master (He's cheaper) get a transport on the go if possible and using scout out flank your strike squad to reduce the distance to your target quickly and deep strike your Grand master and the other Strike squad or use them to guard your home objective.
Once you get into bigger point games you will be able to properly show them what GKs are truely capable of. 1500+ points and you can get a load of goodies, your opponent will always have more than you but you will have more options.
Cheap Inquisitor with BP/CCW and 3 henchmen guys with bolters
2x10 GKSS each unit has a hammer and 2 psycannon.
(could drop 2 hammers for 4 more henchmen with bolters to make a decent sized unit or take 2 HB servitors)
Tactics : HQ & henchmen dive into cover and lend a bit of firesupport. The GKSS can deploy and walk if you get first turn. Remember your guys have range 30 guns too as you can move and fire. Also your extra toughness makes up for his stronger guns and you get 2 shots, extra BS and a better save. If he goes first you can deepstrike the troops about 12" away from the enemy to avoid misshaps and blast the pants off the enemy. Then walk forewards shoting all the way and get into combat.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
i was also thinking about just taking 2 pallys as separate squads and my dread knight which has beaten him before
i also hav a bc and i used his Orbital Strike relay to take out his crisis commander
