Lord Balkor The Ancient ( Special Characters Contest)

    Lord Balkor the Ancient

Basic Blood Angels Dreadnought Stats with +1 Attack

Lord Balkor was the first chaplain to join the Battle Dragons, a successor chapter
to the Blood Angels. Once he had proved his fury in battle, he was asked to lead
the first company into battle. For a time he was undefeated. Then he was dispatched
his homeworld of Dragua, where Waaagh! Skullsmash was making their assault. He was
charged with keeping the orks out of the mountain pass that led to the capital, and
for six hours he held the line. A nob mortally wounded him, but by the strength of his
will he stayed alive. When his comrades found him they took him to the
fortress-monastary and he was encased in dreadnought armor,
    the Chapter’s very first dreadnought.

    Unit Composition:
    · 1 (Unique)

    Unit Type:
    Vehicle (Walker)

    Wargear:

    · Smoke Launchers

    Points: 225

*Dracan Claw: This Dreadnought Close Combat Weapon was special
forged by Forge-master Draak for Balkor while he was serving in the
1st company. Once he was encased in his dreadnought form, he had
the arm adapted to fit the massive form. It is a massive fist in the
form of a dragon’s claw. This weapon is a dreadnought close-combat
weapon that allows for re-rolls when rolling to hit.

*Skull Mask: This skull mask used to be the helmet that protected the
head of their chaplain, but now it has been fitted to his dreadnought
form to inspire fear in his enemies. Enemy units within 12” take
    leadership tests at a -2.

    *Additional Special Rule/Wargear

This character may be used in the short story contest

Well If my SCC Blood angels dreadnought was overpowered this is just underwhelming. Also I count 4 pieces of wargear, as he is a Furioso dread, as listed in the stats, but is armed with an assault cannon. IF you mean the Frag assault cannon then that's alright. But basically he's still a Furioso dread with a master crafted blood fist and a leadership ability that could be more powerful I would say.

Skull mask- Any Unit engaged in close combat with Balkor must take any leadership tests on 3 dice.

Also with all the possible SCC characters it's odd you would make another blood angels furioso dreadnought called something, the something, especially one where I would rather have just a librarian furisoso instead for the points cost.

Fleet on a Dreadnought is pretty good. Between that and a leadership nerf, this guy isn't underpowered. I suppose the base could be a regular Dreadnought with additional stat modifiers rather than a Furioso, which would account for the assault cannon.

Might be fluffier to replace the Claw with a Chaplain's standard charge bonus. It'd give about the same result. No extra armor?

I liked the original version better. Why does he only 1 DCCW but then +2A? I can see that justifiable if he had 2 DCCW, but IMO 1 DCCW should be no more than +1A. That's the price you pay for adding a major gun to the walker.

Also, now you've made Skull Mask too strong by buffing your own army as well with fearlessness. Reducing enemy LD by -2 is already strong enough, especially if you cast Fear of Darkness on top of that.
