    Using Thunderfire Cannons

What is the best way to run Thunderfire cannons, because whenever I use mine it just gets shot to pieces before it actually does anything? Is it a case of more is more and so should I run 3 of them, or are they just not worth using at all? Thanks in advance.

I never see them run and the problem is simple. They die to quickly. It only takes a single str 4 shot to destroy it. If you get hit with a missile launcher it's pretty much toast as it only takes a 2+ to take it out. It's easy to glance it, even normal bolters can take it down. Really thats the problem with them. The shots are nice and it hits hard but for 100 points you can almost get a vanquisher or a for 15 less you can get a predator which can take the hits like a pro.

Make sure you are putting it in ruins and bolstering those ruins with the Techmarine for a 3+ cover save. For 100 points it's not a big loss if it dies, I would also make sure that it's not the most threatening thing on the table. If there are scarier things on the table it may be forgotten about for the first turn or 2. From what I can gather the people that use them to great effect normally use 2.

Assuming Ruins are even available. Rules that require specific types of terrain to gain a bonus are crap across the board.

And frankly, the unit is far too fragile to be useful except in VERY small games.

I would like to recommend this 3 part article, Community Pimp: For Love of the Thunderfire Cannon | The Blood of Kittens Network Now granted it talks a lot about White Scars but I think most of have he has to say does not matter if it's White Scars or not.
