I've been browsing the forum and read some posts about Grey knight dreadnoughts and I'm now confused.
To field a dreadnought, do I have to take a Grey knight hero as HQ or does a puritan Inquisitor lord work?
You must have a GK hero, either the Grand Master, Brother Captain, or Stern, to be able to field a "GK" Dreadnought.
Now, if you want to field a Dreadnought, which is different from a GK Dreadnought, you must have two Space Marine units in your army. In this case, your HQ can only be an Inquisitor Lord because you are not allowed GK's with Space Marines. Now, it should be noted, that the GK Dreadnought is different from the space marine one.
But do I have to use the GK Hero as a HQ? Or is it enough that he's in the army (elites)?
The Brother Captain that you get in Elite GK Termie squads doesn't count as a GK Hero - only the HQ choices do. So you have to buy the GM or BC HQ choice to have a Hero. It's weird, I know - the HQ and Elite BC are identical in every other way but this, but that's the way it is.
really its not a big deal if you are fielding termis already, just move them to the 2nd hq spot.
