Hey guys I was thinking about using bikes in my 1k list as my friend is selling me his (he's gonna play tau now) for a cheap price. I want to know whether it is a viable option, how to kit them out and whether to use normal or scout bikers. Here is my list:
Librarian w/ JP
Priest w/ JP
10 ASM 1 PF 2 meltas
10 ASM 1 PW 2 flamers
Scouts w/ cloaks and snipers
Dev Squad w/ 4 ML. (x2)
TOTAL : 1000 POINTS
I was wondering whether it would be ok or worth it to switch out a Dev Squad for a biker squad. If so how would you use them. Also any bike tactics from you guys would be very helpful
blood rodeo(a bikes and assault marines is known) is a tricky way to play but can work well if you can combine the bikes with the priests etcs buffs. which is expensive models effects stacking with other expensive models effects on other expensive models own stats to make them tougher. to make them work each squad of bikers needs a role, anti tank or personel( which is harder due to the limited number of attacks on bikers) great for tying up units that struggle to hurt them though. saying that the only bikes ive ever ran is attack bikes with multimeltas which i did have a decent run with.
Are you sold on the BA or you want a bike army?Or to be more precise, you want a fan list or a competitive list with bikes?
Because i think the BA dex is not that effective on the bikes thingie.

BAs might not be able to make their bikes scoring but they can field a pretty good biker Death Star. Their speed makes it easy to claim the charge buffs from priests and chaplains, their toughness stacks well with Feel No Pain and they will often be in position to charge on Turn 2, in support of a DoA drop. Bring a larger squad for best results; 1,000 points is a bit small for them but still doable.
Don't use Scout Bikers unless you're using Drop Pods. Maybe not even then.
I'm also experimenting with an Assault Bike squad with attached librarian. It's a decent fire support & psyker platform.

No Im not sold on the bikes, just wondering if it would be good cuz me friend is giving the to me for a low price... Alrite I'll stay away from bikes for now, and then try them in a bigger points match soem time Thanks guys
I find that bike are really only truly effective when fielded in large groups. and you almost need an attack bike for the heavy weapon support. I prefer to run bike with DA because they seem to be more effective that way.
More or less vanilla marines can pull some nasty bike lists too.
