I have 4 armoured sentinels in my IG force, 3 armed with Lascannons and one with a heavy flamer.
Are they worth the points?
New to IG and looking for a lot of help.
i guess that your lascannon sentinels can be easily considered armed with a multilaser.
Anyway, yes, they're useful even if a little bit expensive. They work wonders against any CC unit with S5 or less, you'll effectively tarpit them forever.
Single shot weapons are a bit meh on bs3 but on guard we know this too well.
Armoured sentinels with a multilaser are ok but a chimera costs the same and has a haeavy flamer on the hull as a backup weapon not to mention the transport option. Howevwer the close combat tarpit option can be great against opponents with no power fist type weapon. Scout sentinels are cheaper and can outflank so I prefer those.

Armored Sentinels work very well in mechanized lists. They can handle terrain, hold in CC and add medium-armor targets for the enemy's ranged guns to handle. Infantry-blob lists don't typically need the terrain/CC help.
If you find the lascannons' accuracy to be inadequate then proxy the missile launcher option. The frag shots can be very satisfying against infantry.
