So as far as i can see only the following units get to take the orbital strike:
Karamazov (but no other =][= s)
Does the orbital strike survive the death of the unit that takes it?
If not, then i guess GM or techmarine are the most likely to survive the longest - your thoughts?
It is viewed as a ranged weapon that can be used ONLY if the unit does not move...which means that if you have it on a GM or BC... it's a bit of a waste since you will probably want to get them into combat.
Thus a tech marine hiding in "bolstered" cover seems the best option if you are ever going to use this.
Is anyone using an orbital strike since they seem to have been Nerf'd
I've tried running three techmarines with orbitals for fun and they weren't all that great. They ALWAYS scatter the FULL 2D6 (You're always going to scatter at least 2 inches). It's too much randomness for my taste. The technology we have now is more accurate than this...
I would say short of taking Karamazov this upgrade is to be filed under fun but not overly effective. Karmazov can make this very accurate but at the cost of sacrificing one of you own men/unit. I did a list with him and a load of crusadors, and bombed squad after squad of marines that assaulted my crusadors. Most of my crusadors were fine thanks to their 3++ save but its not a competive list to say the least.
