3 boxes of grey knights
1 box of grey knight terminators
grey knight sergeant
well, what do you guys think? any tipes or changes will be greatly appreciated, and please tell me if im missing an essential part of the army. ill mainly play against orks, necrons, tyranid, dark angels.
thanks is advance.
o- sry, in my imperial guard army, i have 10 karskrin storm troopers. so i can also use them in my army, and i have a chimera
Grey Knights are a decent way to start off when you already play IG. You can add inducted IG to a Daemonhunters roster, which is arguably one of the better ways to play them. You can keep using your guardsmen, your stormtroopers, your sentinals, and a single Leman Russ.
You can go as heavy or as light on the GKs as you like. My DH roster has only 1 squad of terminators and 1 squad of GKs in power armor, plus an inquisitor, dreadnaught, and callidus assassin. The rest are all IG and stormtroopers.
The items you plan on purchasing sound like a good start. You might want to consider an inquisitor, possibly a few retinue members (plasma and multimelta servitors are a great addition), and an imperial assassin. (I like the callidus, a few others prefer the eversore or vindicare)
If you're REALLY brave and want to try pure GK, you'll need a lot more than what you're planning on buying.
Have fun, you'll enjoy playing them.

Does a pure grey knight army work, Are they high point value grey knights worth using? I would like to build a pure grey knight army, but use my imperial guard with them untill i can finish my pure grey knight army.
to sum it all up
can a pure DH army work?
What does it work best with?
DH need alot of inquisitorial STs for the meat and mobility+ the meltas. grey knight have a poor tank hunting base.
the dreads are a good way to go with the lascannons and the plasma cannons.
Definitely. The key to playing pure GK is to ignore bells and whistles. If you go all out and take a lot of upgrades and special weapons, you won't have very many models. Ignore the flashy things and just use basic troopers, and you've got quite a fearsome force.Does a pure grey knight army work, Are they high point value grey knights worth using?
Building up a DH army slowly using your existing IG is a great way to go. You can just buy a couple of boxes of GK here and there and ally them, then when you have a decent force, switch it around so you're playing DH with inducted IG, then eventually just DH.
Pure DH (or GK) works best against swarm armies, actually. If you do what I said above and just invest in basic models, then you'll have 2 bolter shots & an S6 weapon on EVERY model, which is slaughter on infantry armies. Toss a psycannon or Incinerator into each unit for an extra kick. And GK Terminators can take out any infantry model in the game - Greater Daemons, C'Tan, Tyrants, you name it, they've killed it.
Start with just boxes of Grey Knights in power armor. Buy & paint them until you've got maybe 20 or so. Then get yourself a unit of GK Terminators and a GK Hero. Then a Dreadnought. At that point, you've got yourself a steady core DH force and can play DH with inducted IG.
As for tank-hunting... ignore it. Honestly, unless you're playing meat grinder missions against armored companies (gear grinder?), then ignore the vehicles. You can pop AV12 and less with your Nemesis Force Weapons & psycannons. A Dreadnought will give you access to Lascannons, Multimeltas, etc. If you REALLY feel the need to be able to take them out, get a second Terminator unit, give them all the FREE thunderhammer upgrade and give the captain a Chainfist, and throw them at the Landraider or whatever is giving you trouble. GK are meant to be in combat, so the easiest way for them to pop armor is up close and personal.
