ive heard of deamon princes kicking the crap out of a dh army and even owning gms
i thought dh was supposed to be good at fighting daemons and chaos and all that
so how would we get owned by a daemon prince????
Daemon Princes are good and all that, but Grey Knight Grand Master with a few anti-Daemon items (Psychic power Destroy Daemon, sacred incence etc...)the prince will have a tough time. What I usually see people do is to throw the Prince at your troops, avoiding DH HQ's as much as possible.
My favorite way of dispatching Prince's is Coteaz with a 12-something strong retinue. Expenisve, but kickas against anything that count's as Daemon.
I dont believe this Daemon princes kicking the GM's but. Not possible when GM is tooled up properly.

You have it all wrong. It is not the model that is good, it is not what the model it is geared with. It's all based on the player, more skilled players will wipe the floor with less skilled players.

I agree with the above statements, but I'd like to point out that a khorne DP can be pretty tough, give him that collar, and your force weapon is useless. Kinda takes a big bight outa the GM's ability. My friends DP and my GM always go through a game of 'what is it tooled up with' every time we play. It's probably not the best stratagy, but these two make a B line for eachother every game. Seems fluffy to me.

I thought a DP deosn't count as a daemon, meaning all our direct anti-daemon wargear is useless. Greater daemon is a cake walk, but that's my experience and I don't know anything of the Chaos codex, only what my friend has played.
If it's true the DP is no deamon, then he can be tough like any other high T model, but so is a GM. In 40k a special character, tooled HQ, or moster creature can dominate if not countered properly.
Daemon Princes are definitely Daemons...I thought a DP deosn't count as a daemon, meaning all our direct anti-daemon wargear is useless. Greater daemon is a cake walk, but that's my experience and I don't know anything of the Chaos codex, only what my friend has played.
i think anything with more than 50 points of daemonic gifts counts as a daemon for that matter. but yes, DAEMON princes are DAEMONS. they should be cake for a well equiped gm with ret...with one exception, a dp of khorne. the collar stops instakill and they can jack just about every stat through the roof (s & i are the biggest threats. i almost prefer a inq lord here with some gk close - dot let him charge you! use destroy daemon instead of the nfw. shoot on the way in. sanctuary could work. remember its not always important to kill it (well, the vps are nice)just keep it ou of cc with our troops (who have no chance). lure it to the gm and do your best. grimore and incense are mandatory here. everything but khorne should be easier than the bush girls (snicker, cheep shot).
In tournament situations I tend to see grey knights with hardly any, if any at all, anti daemon items. Dropping the points for an expensive peace of wargear in an already expensive force is hard to do when you might not even face any daemons. This results in daemon princes being able to deal with grand masters, purely because the grand master is not equipped for the fight. In many cases sacred incense or another cheep upgrade might turn the table, but was passed over in favor of an item that will help when facing a non chaos army.
tgis is true and one of te canundrums (sp?) of the army, either they must be geared for chaos or not chaos. that whole sustained assault sux if you dont have your army geared to fight chaos.
