It is retarded how much protection skimmers have; move over 12" and only inflict glancing hits, blah! Darn Falcon, Fire Prism...just die already. What a fustrating battle I had today, lascannons get me 4 penetrating hits and missles get something like 6 or 7 glancing or penetrating hits, but wait, he moved 12", glancing it is. And do I ever roll a 6...no, of course not. Not only that but their stupid sheild thing, roll 2 D6 on the damage table and pick the lowest one, blah! Thank god Vypers are open-topped! Shoot and a miss, batter batter batter batter s w i n g batter batter. Just had to vent.
...and you will know my name is the lord, when I strike down my vengence upon thee...
they're even better when you put spirit stones on them. all hits glancing, 2 dice on the damage table- pick lowest, also there's a chance you can ignore crew stunned and crew shaken results.
hence i now have 2 falcons.
It's mainly the eldar skimmers that are so tough. Our speeders pop pretty easy.
At least skimmers blow up on an immobilized result. So a glanced skimmer dies on a 5+. Also, remember that templates get a +1 on the results roll. So that's a 4+ to destroy a skimmer. Whittle the sucker down!

Tau skimmers, for ten points, make you roll immobilized results...
Just so you remembered. =)

Yeah well before you complain too much, Falcons like that are close to 200 points or over.. It's not like they're free which most people seem to think all that Eldar stuff is
Concentrate your firepower in order to shoot eldar skimmers down. Each lascannon shot on a falcon from a bs:4 has about 8.7% to shoot it down so you need to hit multiple times and I mean more than five in order to get it right. On the other hand Eldar are magic baby  and dont even get me started on your space marine a$s.
Ahh I see the screw up fairy has visited us again...

How about blowing up on a glancing 4+ because my skimmer are open topped.
BTW, I think that the template thing only works on open topped vehicles, skimmers or not and it's not a +1 on damage chart, it's a 2d6 pick the highest on the damage chart.
Only against open topped do templates get that.. And yes it is +1 to the results, 2d6 pick the highest is for ordanance
And it's about a 1% chance to kill a falcon with a lascannon, not 8% if you calculate everything
The best way to destroy skimmers is with multiple shot, medum strength weapons. Things like Assault cannon, autocannon, multi lasers, etc....If you inflict enough glancing hits the thing will die. In fact, I will throw my speeders in front of lascannon and missiles all day long...but as soon as I see heavy bolters or even reguluar bolters I start to worry. My land speeders have gone down more times to small arms fire than anything else.
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!
so what are you just really bad at rolling or something? i fight eldar all the time and blow them away with rockets and autocannon on first try. i even blow lr away with ease, imo those things are not worth it for the armour...
Take my love, take my land, take me to where I cannot stand; I don't care I'm still free, you can't take the sky from me.
