I havent seen it yet, but............I heard it is ridicously good! Can the IG still fight the SM, I heard something about 70 assult marines, or 6 dreads, 6 LR or LRC's!
To sum it all up, Will IG have a hard time fighting the new SM's?
thnks in advance
SM are nothing just get 2 leman Russ's and you will be fine.
I doubt we will have any problems that we didnt already have before with SM's. They will have better stats, generic guns and armor. We will still have the same advantages though great tanks, huge amounts of men, and the ability to field tons of heavy weapons melded into the meat shields that are our infantry. I see no big changes in my tactics that I will use against them.
The Hive Mind will consume all.
I have the new marine codex, and as a long time Guard player (and a short time Space Wolf player) it dosnt seem that drastic.
Assault Cannons are much better (and rending!, ouch. Ive blown up several Chimeras with my Wolves Dreadnaught already.
Space Marines can now buy drop pods for most units, allowing them to deepstrike even when deepstriking isnt allowed in a scenario.
"Build your own chapter" rules. Harcore SM players will be making their own chapters and may be getting better. Most of the options for "build your own chapter" are just organization options (example: XX unit counts as fast attack or elite, you can take more XX but you dont get unit YY)
Every idiot and their grandmother will probably be making their own chapter! Which means not so great Space Marine players make things more complicated and probably get worse (their lists will ironically get less flexible as they try to pack more of their favorite unit into their army).

what do u mean about 6 landraiders or 70 assault marines, that was kinda random since u really didnt specify why you would have all that stuff. But i assume with a new codex the Space Marines will be much harder.

My Inquisitor's army already whooped up on some SMurfs in a 1,000 point game. I'm not too worried except I have a friend who tries to find something broken about every codex and exploit it to the highest possible degree. For example, with IG his army contains 3 HQ drop units with flamers and meltas and an equally armed special weapon squad that drops with a demolition charge. Ouch
Karnov let all of us fulfil our repressed dreams of being a fat Russian man running around in the great outdoors and getting shot at by weird stone heads and crap. You didn't have a repressed fantasy about doing such marvelous things? Well, I don't believe you . . . [djpretzel]
will SM get better after the new dex?
will IG be unable to beat SM after the new dex?
will IG have a harder time beating SM after the new dex?
Probably, but not by too much.
Codex: SM *needed* an update, it was looking rather shoddy when compared to Codex: CSM.
yeah, they'll have new toys, and some cool stuff... but we got some new toys and cool stuff with our new dex.
although the idea that SM noobs will get "worse" with the new dex due to the "hang yourself with your options" ...
i'm not quit certain about that. the Trait system seems idiot proof. only 2 adv max and a major/min dis... and they're not as point sucking (like IG doctrines). and the disadvantages are laughable....
One major disadvantage is that your opponent can extend the game by one turn on a 4+ !! :realmad: the hell, their major disadvantage is that half the time the opponent gets to extend the game. Now maybe you guys got a different experience, but I find that against SM I usually want the game to end as quickly as possible.
Alot of the disadvantages are trivial, and just make changes to the force chart.

I agree that the disadvantages are laughable. Even if you had to pick several major disadvantages, you could still choose options that will hardly even affect most of your lists.

Ya, I agree. Big deal about their disadvantages, the SM players I have talked to seem to really feel it is an upgrade, especially all of the infiltrating, and the Librairian powers.
Infiltrating will hurt the way I play, as I like to use light infantry quite a bit, and the SM players will be taking up my good spots!
Drop Pods will mean we will need to set up more tank support. Maybe a command squad with 4 meltas, or 4 plasma rifles etc. Techpreists!
We still are more flexible, and at a bigger point cost should still be able to win!
