2on2. Necron/IG (me) vs SM/SM (DA) 1250each
pure victory points.
the DA had alot of fast attack.
SM player was rather shooty, plus HQ/vets in a LRC.
my necron allie took monolith, lord, scarabs, and about 40 warriors.
i took ~75 infantry, 3 ML, 3 LC, 2 PG, 3 AC
Russ(3H, Demo (LasPlas), Bassie (indirect)
we had an independent party set up the board, and faced off along the long side of the 6'x4'
no cover in the corners... had to put bassie behind a hill in the center across from the bulk of their army which was in a trench
monolith in reserve (mistake!
scarabs in reserve (mistake!
the game was absolutly CRAP
my first 6 pie plates, didn't HIT anything! i've never NEVER seen so many 6" scatters.... ugh...
by turn 3 i had lost my Demolisher (didn't kill anything), to a lucky glancing 6.
my Bassie (bikes turboed into my lines w/ multi melta).
and my Russ wasn't doing crap (only visible target where in 4+ saves.
the LRC charged our lines and it took 26 warriors 2 turns to take it down... my men where primary in the center 3.5' of the board, but where getting absolutly SLAUGHTERED by ML devs... that where in 4+ save... couldn't freakin' take them out...
we killed 1 FC, but the other FC managed to win a combat and make 10+ warriors and the Necron Lord die due to sweeping advance :realmad:
my allie punched a hole in the wall! he was piiiisssed
the monolith didn't come on till turn 4. we forgot about 1 of the 2 scarab swarms (stayed in reserve whole game)...
over all it was a very very furstrating game.
but we somehow, managed to only loose by 90 victory points, so it was a "tie"... but it felt like a whooping...
just wanted to vent that ... hehe
I hate that when you forget about one of your units. I once put my 10 striking scorpians in a ruined building on turn one and forgot about them the whole game. Sounds to me like your Necron allies wasn't of much help. He could have easily deepstriked his Lord with 20 warriors and reck some havoc and assault the devestator squads. Sounds like bad rolling too (I've had my Lord alone take out LR's). Also it seems a little odd that you get no cover and they get power armor and and the best cover. But way to come out with a tie in a difficult battle.
The first time I plated Necrons, I didn't know about the glancing hit rule with their regular weapons! I had placed my Demolisher and One Russ within range of his guys at set up. He got first turn... BOOOOOM!!! BOOOOOM!!! both tanks were done. It went down hill from there. I quit on turn 4 and had one Techpriest and my Junior Officer left on the board!!

Im kinnda new, how does victory points work? I know you basicly add up all the points you killed, but, how much do you have to win buy to get the win. Ex. you said you lost by 90, but it was a tie.
tnks in advance
they explain in in the BGB.
we played that you have to win by 100 points. some play where you have to win by 250. really depends on how big your game is.
Had a similar experience yesterday. 600 pt game. I had a crappy, low model list because of my current lack of assembled infantry models.
Chaos lord and squad had just wiped out a squad of 5 grenadiers. My russ came in from reserves (mistake on my part, I didn't realize that I could have it on the board). Ordinance shot at chaos squad, miss. Rapid fire plasma, 3 hits, 1 overheat, my guy dies. Three 1's came up on the wounding rolls. Missile launcher and lascannon did nothing (cityfight terrain is evil). Rapid firing lasguns, predictably, did nothing.
I lost more models than he did in my shooting phase. All of the survivors received summary executions.

I hate that when you finially hit something and then roll a 1 to wound. You can talk to my heavy weapon crews about that one :realmad: ...
Man, this post is old. My worst game ever was when I very first started. I played with a gaming group that moonlighted as a bunch of stoners, so rules were frequently forgotten, and don't leave your bag of Cheetos on the table, they would disappear. Anyhoo, they were cool with letting me use very very very old school Armored Company rules, and this dude I was playing (I was in my early 20's and this kid was like 10) and he charged in with a Carnifex and he had that stupid "sustained attack" rule and basically tore through my tanks (that were all clumped together Pearl Harbor style) and beat me very quickly, the entire time he talked smack to me. I was hella irritated, and I never played with those stoners again.
But for the record, I wasn't a poor sport, thier aloof stoner attitudes had been wearing on me for a while before this.
