With the Pious trait, "Purity above all"

is it possible to give the vet serg / apocthearies, wargear (like a power fist, etc)

To my understanding he can, but I just want to be sure before I buy lots of them.

Also does his medi-pac (forget the name) not work if the first wound suffered is a wound from something that it cannot heal, (instant death, combat attack that ignores armour). Or does it not matter and it only affects the first wound that is caused by something it can heal.

(I hope you's understand what I am saying, sorry I can't explain stuff very well)

I ask this because if the unit is in combat with an enemy unit led by a character, the character (almost) will always have a higher I and is usually armed with a weapon that ignores armour saves, if the character causes the first wound (cause of its higher I ) and ignores my armour then my apocs will be useless as the first wound suffered was a wound that ignored armour.

Also I think people may abuse this and have their vet serg (or simmilar) doing their attacks first and making the apocs useless.

Anyway.... I have chosen for "purity above all" and "trust your battle brother"

with "Flesh over steel" and "death before dishonour"

How victory may be produced for them out of the enemy's
own tactics--that is what the multitude cannot comprehend.

Do you mean for example that they suffer two wounds, first a powerweapon wound and then a normal wound? The Narthecium allows someone within 6 inches to ignore a failed armour save once per turn, it doesn't say anything about it having to be the first. The Apothecary can't use his Narthecium if he is locked in combat though, I forgot the exact definition of that but he's guaranteed to be locked if he is within 2 inches when his unit is in CC. I don't think it's supposed to be used much in CC.

Add the fact that a single vet sarge/apothecary guy costs 55 points, and that's without any weapons upgrades.

Could be good for shooty armies though.

The Narthecium does not work if the character equipped with it is participating in close combat. If his unit is fighting and he manages to stay out of the way then it can be used as normal.
The item cannot be used to ignore wounds from weapons that are double toughness. I am not sure but I don’t think it helps against power weapons.

I can see taking apothecaries as unit leaders being good for a sooty army. Being able to ignore wounds in a devastator squad would be nice. The apothecaries might just make the difference when faced with another sooty army, but they are practically useless against an assault force.

Well, you know its a bad day when your devastators get assaulted

I like the apothecaries, especially with the new rules. Give him some wargear so he can fight if he gets assaulted, but in shooting, he can heal your troops.
