In the new rules can a unit that is inside a chimera pop the top and fire it's heavy weapon(or any weapon) at a different target other than the one the chimera's weapons fired at? This is of course it did'nt move. And a different question is if a unit inside a chimera that has sharpshooters re-roll anything that the chimera fires other than then the model that pops the top, because thats a given.

"That is the sound of inevitability"

Yes the squad may fire at another squad profided that they have line of sight and are in range. The squad on it own, onyl thing is that it is in a chimera.

The guns on a chimera use the Chimera's BS, so no sharpshooters (sharpshooters only apply to an Infantry unit with a BS of 3)

I dont believe the 4th edition rules have changed the Chimera's open topped option at all. The model firing through the open top can independantly target whatever it would like, and I believe it counts as not having moved.

I know that the hull mounted lasguns on the Chimera always count as stationary for rapid firing purposes (though I believe they can be fired only when defensive weapons can be fired)

Can anyone clear this up better than my try?

I don't think you can fire a heavy weapon after moving the chimera. One thing you may want to try is giving your vet sgt a plasma pistol, I once shot a demolisher from the side and destroyed it.. funny stuff.

unless the Vet Sarge is in a Vet squad or a Stormie squad, i wouldn't do it.

10pts for a BS3 PlasmaPistol w/ a 5+ save. i'd rather have a plasmagun or a heavybolter.

but i have to admit, a plasmapistol taking out a demolisher is pretty badass

However, every shot fired by that squad with the sharpshooter skill will use this ability, this includes the sponson mounted lasguns (does anyone actually use them?).
Oh another thing about those lasguns, look in the new rulebook at the diagram for sponson weapons. Tjose little babies can now fire basically everywhere. (or at least to the front and back as well as side)
I kill two dwarves in the morning, I kill two dwarves at night. I kill two dwarves in the afternoon, and then I feel allright. I kill two dwarves in time of peace, and two in time of war. I kill two dwarves before I kill two dwarves, and then I kill two more.
