As I am sure you have all noticed, our wonderful Biker HQ's have lost the ability to have biker command squads.

This limits the use of an HQ on bike as they can no longer have a tooled up squad that can keep up with them. Sure you could always attach them to another bike sqaud but that just isnt always an option.

I would like to suggest hunting beastsfrom chapter approved:

    http://uk.games-workshop.com/40kuniverse/w...res/default.htm

While they arguablly suck, they are extra wounds and do not have their own movement rate, which means they keep up with the HQ even on a boost. At there cheap point cost, they may be worthwhile.

My personal favorite for this is the New librarien with furious charge and a familliar.

What do all of you think?

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

A vanilla marine army never had the option of a bike command squad and to my knoweledge neither did anyone else.
The enemies of the Emperor fear many things. They fear discovery, defeat, despair and death. Yet there is one thing they fear above all others. They fear the wrath of the Space Marines!

The chapter approved article which introduced the invulnerable save for Terminators also allowed command squads to split their specialists off (eg techmarine joins devastator squad), and for command squads to take bikes (or they could sit in the sidecar of an attack bike).

DA lost command squad on bikes with new codex. All because of the Techmarine becoming elite.

There is no longer a way to have a command squad on bikes. More importantlly there is no squad aside from a bike squad that can boost. This is why I was asking about the hunting beasts:

    http://uk.games-workshop.com/40kuniverse/w...nting-beast.htm

Now, what do you guys think about them? They are cheap and keep up with the Character thats leading them. So an HQ on bike can still boost with this squad. The beasts are a cheap way to effectivelly get extra wounds for our HQ's.

Its always been my opinion that we as space marines needed a cheap unit. Hunting beasts can fill that roll.

I would like to point out that they count as wargear so it is pefectlly viable to add 4 of them to a devastator squads Sergeant. I personally like to think of them as wardogs as opposed to hunting beasts. Wardogs of old would jump in front of charging horses or men to save there master. Well, im glad space marines finally figured that out.

    Your thoughts?
