Now I dont have the new codex yet, but I will soon. In the mean time I just wanted to know what people who have it think of the revamped Librarians. Are they now more worth it than Chaplains, equal with them, or still less of a deal? What are your opinions?

There are now two ranks, one with 2 wounds and Ld9 and one with 3 wounds and Ld10, and they now come with psychic hoods and force weapons as standard and Emperors wrath (smite)
They have more powers which are basically wrip offs from other chapter specific powers (quickening aka might of heroes).
Theres is a tactica on US GW website here In my opinion Chaplains are still a better deal, and there black so there, and they have skull masks

They each fulfill different roles and are both useful.

Once you see the Librarian's psychic powers you will not doubt him.

I really like the idea of choices in the new codex.
    The HQ just screams CHOOSE.
You have the Commander who gives his LD
The Librarian with his powers (very revamped)
And the Chaplain who leads assaults very well.

Plus you can upgrade the Chap and Librarian... very nice indeed!

Its too bad you can only have 2 HQs...
So I think I will have to experiment alot and see what I enjoy the most.
KMFDM doing it again, a treat for the freaks.
Truth or Dare. Are you ready for this?

To answer your question Invictus, it will be a personal choice.

Each of the HQ's have there own pros and cons. The changes that were made to them makes them "equal" in my mind.

From what I have seen, the most disgusting thing we can do is a Librarien on bike with familliar, hunting beasts and attached to a vet biker squad with furious charge.

    This gives:
Librarien with 7 initiative, 5 strength 5 toughsness 5 WS and 5 attacks on the charge with a force weapon. The hunting beasts keep up with the boosted bikers so you can still use the 24" boost for the inulnerable save. I am sure you noticed that a librarien with a 5 strength 5 attacks and a 7 initiative is a killing machine. Add in the fact that they have a power that increases there attacks by a d3 and another that lets them re-roll nearlly every failed save in a turn.

Last night my librarien walked over C'tan the Nightbringer. I had 5 attacks on the charge, needed 6's to wound. got one 6 and passed the psychic test with the librariens 10 leadership. POOF, no more C'tan.

There is a reason the Librarien is the most expensive HQ choice, he is extremelly powerful.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:

    1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant

    2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers

    3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC

As stated, all are pretty decent now. FOrce commander is really nice to keep your shooting lines bolstered, but i still gotta go with chaplain in blood angels for obvious reasons. He makes the death company even more devestating now heh

You dont wanna pick too many HQs, 1 is enough for marines usually or 2 cheaper ones. Having too many HQ's = no scoring units = you lose game. However I am looking forward to playing a marine player who has 2 HQs with 2 attached HQ's and be unable to score any points cause of that

Hey don't forget you can add a chaplin to your command squad or a librarian if you want to and still take another HQ choice in fact space marines can know have six charchters per army.
