I'm in a tournament and I'm looking for a little advice for my next game. I'm playing Tyranids in a Take and Hold mission with a 1000 pt cap.
My question is if you were facing Tyranids in this mission, what would you take?
Since I don't play Marines, I'm just curious what I might be facing this coming Monday.
Gyauayuayuayua! Ja! Ve vill crush da little girly men in deir little girl men awrmor! Ve vill see owur enemies driven befowur us, und hear da lahmentaytions of deir wemen. Und from owur home planet, de stayte uf Califowurnia, ve vill lawunch owur mighty offensive. Even if you kill us, ve'll be bach!! Gyauayauyauyauyau!
-Arnoldunit Schwarzenecronegger; when questioned about the impending doom he would rain down upon the heads of his doomed enemies.
Against 'nids? Hrm. Well, i'd start with a solid HQ, storm bolter and power weapon, and decently sized command squad to accompany him. Maybe a second character if I could keep it cheap enough. Minimum of three tactical squads with heavy bolters and flamers, and probably at least one pred destructor, vindi, or whirlwind.
Sam Mills (1959-2005) and Mark Fields - Keep Pounding
Cry Cheese, And Let Loose The Wraithlords And Templar!
I usually take two devastator squads with 4 lascannons each.
Plus two squads of tactical marines
and a Librarian.
If I have points left over I usually take Assault Terminators, a whirlwind and more tactical squads with Flamers. All this will be set up in a tight formation with the Devastators and whirlwind at the back. the Tcticals as a shield in front and the Termis in the first line.
but I guess you won't ever see that set-up being used by anyone else.
The key to this one is to shoot all the Tyranid warriors (lascannons are instant kills)and the Tyrant in the first 2 or 3 turns leaving no synapse creatures by turn three...
Shut up and play.
Right off the bat go for a Librarian.
Arm him with Fury of the Ancients and Vortex of Doom.
Use Fury of the Ancients across his Gaunt squads, and also use Vortex of Doom to suck as many up as you can.
Your Devy squads should empty their guns at the Tyrant and the Warriors. Kill all Synapse creatures as fast as possible, give Tac squads flamers and meltas and Sergeants with power weapons. Big guns for big monsters, normal troops should shoot apart the normal chaff then engage with their Sergeant leaving a dent.
If a tree falls in the forest, and it lands on a mime, does anyone care?
This may sound kinda...whats that word...stupid but this has worket ageanst a lot of bug, under the Arageddon Codex. I'd have a Force Commander With bolt pistol and hammer, Iron halo, mantle. Then a as eany tac squads as I can get my hands on, each armed with a flamer and melta gun. wait for the bugs to get kinda close, 12". Then I'd move up to 6" shoot the all I can. Then take the fight to them. I allwas did it on my rules. As in if there where 1 bugs in the squad I'd have 20-30 Marines on them, If I had the room and numbers. I allmost forgot. My Veteran Sargents in all the tacs had bolt pistol, power fist, signum...If the points where there. I know not everyone plays like I do, or thinks like I do...I hope...but I hope this helps. I wish I knew the new codex beater so I can give you more updaed tactics...oh yeah the army list that I kida discribed is the same one I use ageanst every army.
P.S. I GOT MY 4 BACK!!!!! TO MORE 3 FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 3;!!!
