A quick questioN iw anted tos ee who was liked best let me see if I can remember tham all-
Lord Solar Macharius
Colonel Shafer and the Last Chancers
Lord Castellan Creed and Sergent Jarren Kell
Colonel Iron hand Straken
If I missed any lemme know, but who do you like/use?
Me: COmmissar Yarrick
I don't use the Sly Marbo SC per se, but I have the model and I make him a veteran sergeant with the honorofica and hardened fighters. Then I give him a bolt pistol and a power weapon so basically I have Sly Marbo leading my veterans into the fight He's slaughtered alot of Tyranids in his day.
As far as favorite character though, I have to go with Schaeffer. I only use the last chancers as an army when I do small 500 point games (which they can be pretty nasty in). My Schaeffer model is also one of the first ones I tried highlighting on and so it looks pretty good. Despite this fact, he is hated at my hobby store just on account that in one game he stood back up with bionics THREE TIMES in a row. Stupid assault marines were dumbfounded and just stood there with their lightning claws dragging the ground
I love using the LC's, I have all the models from that set and they look really neat in an army. I still need to buy one of the older catachan lieutenants (not the guy with the cigar but the two ugly guys) for a permanent Kage model. So far I've been using the Catachan Captain with the power fist.
Karnov let all of us fulfil our repressed dreams of being a fat Russian man running around in the great outdoors and getting shot at by weird stone heads and crap. You didn't have a repressed fantasy about doing such marvelous things? Well, I don't believe you . . . [djpretzel]
Last Chancer's can add flexibilty to the Guard command structure like nothing else, such as the ability to fill up all your required troop and HQ picks. Also the fact that you then have a core to your army that isn't using doctrines, which alllows you to create more specialised units then you would if you had to pay for doctrines for everyone.
The only other special chars I would consider playing are Gaunt in a cc army, or Lord Solar Macharius/Nord Deddog.. both of whom I only vaguely remember as being very good (last time I read there entries was from 2ed codex).

After I've seen Last Chancers in action yesterday, I'm gonna vote for them too. 5 Sub-Units of one crazy bundle of joy each armed with a demolition charge deepstriking right into the foe is just horrible. I've never seen Necrons melt away more quickly. When the subunit containing Schaeffer and Kage finally arrived and beat the crap out of a Necron Lord, general applause was given. Suicidal IG? Yes, please.
Aside from that, they're super-versatile and probably quite well suited to flesh out an army's weakness... and fluffy. What more can you ask for?
I really like Yarrick, but with his old rules. He took on a squad of 30 ork boyz. The force field kept him alive for ages and when he did die, he got back up!!!
I also want to field Colonel Comissar Gaunt at one point. Reading Ghostmaker helped with that. Plus he is fairly cheap and a ok guy to send into combat, on the charge he gets +2 attacks!!
The real rules for Sly Rambo..er.. Marbo are cool. Although I prefer the uber comissars.

When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
You've got to love Schaeffer, but theres a soft spot in my heart for Yarrick, I love his models.
I am the Aquila-Guerilla!
I gotta go with Yarrick, just because I have him and use him. I like the idea of the Last Chancers, and I want to get stared on my Group.

I like them all but Macharius, seems a bit weak considering who he is and his points cost and points needed to field him especially... i guess its those stupid war wounds.... damn they could of gave you the version before he was wounded.... also gaunt... you cant take his special command squad now right? Well in my opinion i preferd Gaunt and Schaeffer when they where able to take a squad of special individual characters.... *looks at last chancer box*
Awwww no I opened my drawer and took out some old warhammer models then tried too put them back in and close the drawer but couldn't, damn the stupid black hole = free OOP models for Brettonia due too not being able too squeeze them back in my drawer >_<
Creed gives you a 75% chance to go first
your pick of the side of the board. this is a big advantage.
and Kell isn't too shaby in CC.
