Welcome to Librarium Online!
i decided to add some inducted IG to my DH army for numbers and additional firepower before my GK's deep strike (platoons and a lemun russ was the plan if i can afford it.) i was also thinking of adding a squad of rough riders in, due to their speed and assault. my strategy was to rush em over behind cover towards where i plan to DS the GKs, and when i do, have the RR's assault the squad closest (and if there's two that i can assault, than the one that appears most intimidating to my GK's), to stall for the GK's.
if i need to be more thorough, i would also have the GK's shoot at said assaulted group so that the rough riders stand more of a chance of succeeding. if they do, they might be able to consolidate to the NEXT squad, making the GK's lives easier, while said lemus russ and other forces move into positions and shoot at other enemy forces, like vehicles and other units. of course, i aim to deep strike the GK's behind cover, but that scatter does lead to some open results....
that's the plan. your opinions?
"One thing that intrigues people to fantasy is how different it is from reality. Make sure you remember that difference, and you'll have a wonderful time."
I've never seen it done before, so I can't comment on the tactic's worth. But it seems that RR are a bad choice to induct into a DH army. If you have GK in your army, you're well off assault-wise. Granted, RR are fast, but I'd rather add the IG's shooting power to the CC might of GK! If you want to induct IG and want more speed, just take an Armored Fist or two. They get heavy weapons and vehicles, two things GK are short on already. Just my opinion.
RR in my opinion are great for what they cost and if you give them a hunting lance they are good for taking out terminators which can make a mess of your expensive power armoured warriors. I suggest using substitutes for them though as the models are very pricey.
