OK, so I have been thinking about my command platoon and need some advice on what squads to put in it. Currently I have the command squad, 2 mars sentinels, and two spec weapon squads (with 1 melta and 2 granade in each)
Now, The command squad and sentinels will stay, but I was thinking about changing the spec weapon squads. What would you guys say are the best / most usefull combos. I had put grenade launchers in there for their versitility, and the meltas for raw power but I was thinkng about moving towards 3 snipers in each squad.
So, what do all of you put in your sqauds, and what advice can you give?
i've seen some people run up to tanks with a demo charge and 2 meltaguns with the intention of balsting my open-topped tanks senseless. it worked as well...
3 flamers is also nasty to hordes. and there is some merit to using 3 sniper rifles, but they're only really effective against about half the armies of the game, and it's the half that i see the least aroud (all eldar, orks, lost and damned, Ig etc.)
Yeah, this is excellent! TY Angel of Rust!

Demo charge and a Chimera.. the only problem is that you have to take mechanised doctrine in order to give them the transport.

I have but one special weapons squad as an attached unit to a command squad. Three sniper rifles supported with three lasgun toting spotters. My idea was to use them as forward observerers for my Heavy Weapons Platoon (Mortars). That way, they could pin down the infantry first before I plastered them with 3 barages of mortar fire.
Haven't got them fielded yet (maybe this weekend! so can't tell you if its a tactic that will work.
The rest of my special weapons are in command squads and infantry squads

I like snipers a lot, as they are good for pinning if enemy has not great leadership.
They are good for Monstrous Creatures, anything with a high toughness, as the strength of the sniper rifle matches the toughness of the creature.
36 " range is good as well.

personally the only time i use a SWS is when i want demolition charge. and when i do that i just take the demo charge, that's it. i don't like paying those high SW prices.
