Just thought I would say that I am creating an Adeptus Arbite regiment. It is essentually Imperial Guard rules wise... but color scheme, model molding, and even the ressurection of the old GW Arbites.
I am making this army to mainly because I have a witch hunter's army that is in need of some infantry but I could not decide on what type of infantry, just saying Imperial Guard is very vague and I like fluff.
Just wanted to hear your thoughts on this. I do expect this is going to take me awhile to make since I will be ordering around $1000-2000 total worth of things from GW and Forgeworld to bring my army up to date.
Any recommendations, thoughts?
Well, there are some new Necromunda arbiters and there's the old ones, but both are unusable without weapon-swaps as the IG don't have boltguns... Are you going to use the carapace doctrine, or are the arbiters just a small part of the army?
This fellow has a pretty large arbites army: http://www.kendoka.com/. If you've been around for a while you might recognize his barbarian outfit from the dwarf (UK edition that is).
Well, the thing is that there are many different types of Arbiters. I plan on exploiting the different types to make this army possible.
Yes, I will be using Carapace. Also for the most part this army will be Infantry intensive, and will have few armor pieces other then the normal transport.
I plan on making a Space Fleet for it as well.
Also in the works is possibly doing some writing for GW story wise, using this army as inspiration.
I plan on mainly using this army for my Witch Hunter army until I get enough units set up for the army.
Scouts w/Shotguns. Greenstuff for helmets and you got it. Arbites ina llt he books I've read go with shotguns. Also has alot of heavy weapon conversion ability. The scouts owuld be bulkier, soa s to maybe look like more armoured shock troop arbites. And then SM arms on IG look great if you go without the shuolderpads,a nd on mY IG, I've used Ork Shoota's in placeo f the Lasguns. Call them Autoguns, but it is definatly more intimidating.
Well, to be honest I am using some of the Judge Dredd unit types (Color Schemes)in order to fill out my army, making it look more professional then just generic glossy black carapace armor. That way I can use Infantry with lasguns. As for the green molding putty... well that is going to be used a lot, do not have any other choice since I wish for an elite looking army to show off.
My troops are going to look very different from the old generic black scheme. I figure that the normal black scheme is for mainly street arbitrators.
Using the site: http://www.pc-webdesign.com/wh40k/ar...ex/arbites.htm
Will update as I do more research. Open to suggestions.
Err, there isn't any other kind. Arbiters are the police of 40k, they don't go to war unless the planet they are stationed on rebells, or something similar, and there aren't any other imperial forces around which is often the case in the beginning of a revolt.Originally posted by Mintaka@Nov 25 2004, 12:07

Also, the Imperial navy takes care of pirates so I don't think they'd have much of a fleet, except for interplanetary transport.
Check out Legacy and Crossfire, books from the Black Library.
These in these books there are different types of Arbites. Its like being in the US Army, there may be a lot of general Infantry, but no force can run on just Infantry alone.
There are special operations arbites, communication arbites, arbites that work with Mechanicus to operate vehicles, and even an extended rank structure that crosses sectors of space. Also in the book they hint at other forms of Arbites such as heavy weapon squads and medical teams.
Also in the books are mention of an Arbite ship very much like a Space Marine Strike Cruiser. Older quicker models, and meant for interdiction of pirates and enforcing the Emperor's justice over populated systems.
There are not many Massive Fleets, like the Imperial Navy. But there could be simular cases of small fleets such as Space Marine Fleets, which are not big overall but can call on the support of other ships for larger battles, but for solitary to smaller space battles, can take care of itself.
Also another thing. Arbite Strike Cruisers are meant for long term pacification of a planet. These ships come into orbit and come with all that is needed to establish a permenant Adeptus Arbite base on any planet it goes to, including any man power needed to run, train, and operate the Adeptus Arbites on such a planet.
I may just make a fleet for fluff, since for the most part it will be a squadron (what we call in the US Navy), part of the main fleet which in this case will be my Inquisition (witch hunters' fleet.
As for the Arbites, the bulk of my troops. The Normal ones that is, will be made out in the traditional colors. The special unit squads, will be painted differently in color but in the same format as the rest, mainly to make them stand out as different from the normal trooper. Ranked units will obviously be more decorated but overall the normal arbite colors with additional gold, and other flashy colors to make them seem more important and stand out.
I will be utilizing the carapace rule, and will not have much armor other then the Arbite style Rhino, and the standard issue rhino.
Lasguns unfortunately will be employed, but I will make my best attempt to utilize them as little as possible.
This of course means I will not call upon any armored units other then transport, but on the other hand will have large amounts of experienced infantry in carapace.
Few of my arbites will be unhelmeted, I believe this will add to the effect of my army as a whole to make it stand out. Might take awhile, but I plan on making a head mold and making arbite heads in bulk.
