Welcome to Librarium Online!
thought i would share my new army here. Am proud to have finally completed it!
the army consist of :
HQ Command squad
2x Storm trooper sqauds, each with valkyrie transport support
6x troops with carapace armor upgrade (represented by karskins)
2x lightning strike fighters for heavy support
That pretty much sums up my army. My thoughts regarding tatics are : use the stormies as fast front attackers on special chars, then the valkyries can give support to the stormies in aid of gettin rid of those annoyin chars that tear ur army apart! the strike fighters take out any tanks or vehicles that are a threat, as well as any heavy enemy troops (terminators etc). The the troops are used to filter off the rest of the enemy.
the fluff behind it is as follows :
After multiple attackson the planet XXXXX the imperium decided to permantly
place a large troop regiment on the surface to hold back any more efforts to
destabilize the mining collony which was active their.
At first it seemed the operation was a success, the attacks had come to an
almost complete stop, troops began to relax a little, or at least as much
as their commanders would let them!
In a swift turn of events, they realised ten tau ships orbiting the planet
in different positions, immeadiatly troops began to man the AA guns, embed
themselves in cover, the planet had a reputation for low cloud cover, and
heavy storms, which made targeting AA guns almost impossible at night.
It wasnt long before drop pods began streaming out of the dense cloud, paratroopers
dropped from the sky in hundreds. The outcome was obvious, it didnt take long
for the tau to take full control of the small planet, imprisoning or executing
and of the remainin regiment.
Immeadiatly the IG command ordered a full strike at the planet, massive troop
forces gathered above the atmosphere of the planet. In one deadly insertsion
the troops were deployed, paratrooping from the skies like rain drops. But since
the tau took control much of the defence technology had been upgraded with their
own more advanced equiptment.
Like lambs to the wolves many of the IG forces were killed before even getting to
Knowing that they could not have another repeat of such a massacre the commanders
began to rethink there options, which didnt take long as their options were more
than limited, none of which really seemed viable or reliable.
It was at this moment General XXXXXXX spoke of an idea he had
had to train and build a specialised force designed to spearhead
large attacks to gain an advantage before the main units would
be deployed. In this case, a regiment trained to knock out the
tau's Command and Communication Center, which would cause a
catastrophic ripple effect through the communication of the enemy.
And so, General XXXXXX began to hand pick men from some of the
best regiments of the imperial guard. They were to be given some
of the most advance and reliable equiptment IG had to offer.
The outfit was complete. A command squad, two specialised storm
trooper units with valkyrie support, 6 advanced troop units with
carapace armour, supported by a 2 bird squad of lightning strike
And so their mission was layed out. The first initial strikes
coming from the lightning squadren, taking out the tau's AA
weapons, followed by the deployment of the troops forming a
triangulation around the compoud. This tatic was designed to
take the attention away from the two storm trooper filled valkyries
that began to make there decent directly into the center of the
As the troops were outside calling in airstrike after airstrike at
multiple enemy targets the stormtroopers raided the building inside.
Capturing or killing any high profile enemy targets until the
building was clear.
The mission was a success, with 23 enemy profiles captured, with only
8 friendly casualties, and some scratches on the valkyries. From this
point the group became its own special operations regiment.
fluff is still in progress
any comments welcome.
wow nice army, wish i had the moneyz to afford all that. The only thing i think which is bad about that type of army is no heavy weapons. even tho u definatly have plasma guns and melta guns in your squads and your fighters to take out tanks, it just looks likes you dont have anything on the ground to pour lascannon fire or heavy bolter fire at the enemy. either way i offer you my best of luck with your army.
By the way, when u get the chance write up (or type up ) an army list becasue im curious of what you equipted your lightning strike fighters and your valkyrie transports with.

thats a pretty slick army. im curious to see how it will do. now comes the best part of playing imperial guard....PAINTING!!! luckily you dont have THAT many troops. best of luck
What's this "6x troops" you're talking about? Six standalone and illegal infantry squads?

Don't call your troops as upgraded with carapace. I think if you use the Storm Troopers specialty army list you can squeeze those guys in as trainnes or junior storms or something. I love the look, but i think the paint job will make or break it. Take your time and make it look good and it will be that much better
