Would making an army around the trait Honour your Wargear be competitive. Basically 6 Devastator Squads and a couple of Tac squads.
"Are farts supposed to be lumpy?"
Not really if taken to that extreme in my opinion. The only reason Honour your Wargear would be good is to Devastators and throw infiltrate on em. Now your pelting your enemy on turn one. Also it would allow you to field loadsa tanks, then take a Dev squad or 2 on top. However, look at it, your lascannon/plasma cannon is going to cost you 35 pts each, and your extra Devs are gonna cost you an extra 3 points, so basically, each Heavy Weapon armed marine is gonna cost about 30+3+15 =48pts? Thats not gonna be a big army, a tactical player will soon overwhelm you. The traits are more meant to be a bonus to existing balanced army lists for tinkering, not complete re-writes.
most of the traits seem to be good for larger games, imo at least.
i always use trust your battle brother and wisdom of the ancients, they may die fast but 3 ven. dreads with lascannons and tank hunter will do some damage first...
for 240 pts or lower, you can still field a good number of devestators(4 squads in under 1000pts)

I like the "Take the Fight to the enemy", and the "Suffer not the works of Heretics combined" Im going to take these from now on. Why?
I fight Imperial Guard a lot, and its amusing to see his face when he realises that my 4 odd lascannons are now +1 to pen, and all my marines in hth now mow through him even easier.
Anyone seen a BP + CCW squad with Chaplain (litanies of hate) attached charge a guard squad? I've been rolling in, and Ive never seen the guard survive the charge. (As they used to do all to often in third ed for me).
Honor your wargear is an amazing trait if you're smart about it.. Doing anything in the extreme isn't competative
I take 2 devestators as elites, 1 inquiistor, 1 devestator as heavy, 1 whirlwind, a commander with command squad, 2 scout squads, 1 tactical squad and a typhoon
Remember to maximize your weapons by taking the cheapest ones. You dont *need* plasma cannons in devestators nor do you need lascannons. Take missile launchers with tank hunter just dont over do it
