i know someone with a tank company and well i think they are the cheeseyest and easyest to beat armies and i wanna know what your thoughts are. on them?
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
When playing against an armoured company you need luck. Because you aint have much shots at heavy weapon fire (much less as normal troops fire and close combat attack) and they also dont shoot really much (if the tanks company begins and got some luck he can destroy all heavy ***** in first round and troops wont get close especially not in lage maps).Originally posted by dunno@Dec 2 2004, 11:50

Things without 2+ armour are death really fast @ long range.
All things that can get close (like terminator deepstrike) and fast attack will die really fast cose of demolishers and when you try to destroy demolishers before you get close you got a really hard job because you need to face 14. Of course trying to deepstike behind a demolisher you can do good damage with terminators and destroy a demolisher but if you got 2 demolishers covering eachother it will be hard to. However if you got terminators running between tanks and the armoured company player aint has demolishers left the amoured company player is f-cked up.
All long ranged 2+ armour save has long ranged need to fase 14 armour against Lemon Rush (what is verry verry hard ) and can (but I am not shure if that is possible with new rules I got old rule book ) be eliminated with deep strike storm troopers.
So I think armoured company's really are strong army's but with great weaknesses and it requires a lot of luck to play. Because an 2000 point army requiress less then 20 good shots most times .

It really depends on how the Armoured Company is laid out, it's easy to load up on one unit or kit out all the tanks and only have a few tanks.
The best way to do it is to leave most tanks pretty much stock and go for numbers of weaponry, the Conqueror and Exterminator can be seriously devastating against weakly armoured troops as they can deal out up to 12 - 14 shots if they have a Heavy Stubber up top and use HB's in the nose and in the sponsons. A HQ Leman Russ Vanquisher has a good chance to drop a Land Raider and with it's high BS has a low chance of missing. And a few standard Leman Russ can do a number with their battlecannons. Heck, a pair of Exterminators could grind through a squad of Guardsman and put a sizable dent in Space Marines and such.
Really what an AC should do is try to drop the enemies Heavy Weapons quickly and then start eating into the regular squads
all u need is the right mission cause remeber in certain scenarios vehicles cant hold table quaters so they cant win plus the plain fact that u cant beat hordes of men with lascannons
Remeber men, we are fighting for the ladies honour, which is a damsite more than she did
as a AC player, its harder then one might think to keep all your tanks alive long enough to do damage.
Somtimes i use them in cities to see the look on my friends face :rofl
107th Regiment, 5th Armored Battle Group- 5500ptsFor someone to deal as much damage as you did, the Emperor must surely be at your side. - MaxDv
Against some armies it can be absolutely brutal, such as Orks, SM and CSM. Its also pretty balanced against other guard, Eldar and Tau, but I think it suffers VS Necrons and Tyranid 'Nidzilla lists.
Necrons can really go wild with Gaus weapons on this list and there just isnt enough AP 2 weapons to deal with 6-8 Monstrous Creatures who will shake a Russ apart if they get ahold of it or zap it with a S10 Venom Cannon.
So I can see why some people would cry cheese about it or say its underpowered but I say its a fairly balanced list that I'd like to see incorporated into the future IG codex.
Ive play both an Armored list and a regular list. And sadly at the end of the day Ill take my footsloggers and heavy weapon crews over all tanks. AC's are alot of fun but people tend to cry cheese. However once those tanks are destroy the game is over. Its alot easier to take an AC down then most people think.
I think an AC is a formable enemy, yes it does have lots of weaknesses, but it aso has several strengths. I'm actually building an AC right, but i going to still have a seperate Infantry army on the side.
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
But partly because painting 5 tanks is a lot less stressful than painting 120 infantry
AC can do well or can do really, really badly - it partly depends on what you're facing, but also on the sort of things that apply in the real world.
In the real world we don't use armour without infantry and other supporting arms and we don't used massed tanks in streetfighting.
If it was a historically stupid place to use tanks then the same will probably happen on the tabletop would be my take.
Get the 40K terrain equivalent of North Africa though and you can be Rommel non-stop ;Y
Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts.
