My Chaplain has a power weapon and so does my commander when I use him.
But the S4 attack just doesn't cut it sometimes.
When you need to hurt a Daemon or somethinglike that with T6 you need 6's to wound like any other grunt.
I don't want to go for a power fist as this would make them strike at I1.
Any ideas on how to increase their hitting power ?
Give him a Combi-melta
Furious Assault is one cheap option, but of course it will only work on the turn that you charge. There are a few special characters with higher strength or with access to unique wargear that hits harder (Emp Chimp). To be honest I would go with the Powerfist and give him an Iron Halo or combat shield so that he is still around to use it.
While Marine heroes are hard, I would still advise trying to avoid close combat with Greater Daemons and Daemon Princes - as monstrous creatures they can be (more or less) freely targeted at range by heavy weapons.

I don't have the SM codex, but what about a chainfist? Either that or a thunder hammer, If you can get those.
That is powerful idea. And Iron halo is a good idea.
Where's your Baritone Saxophone?
Thunder hammer would be really since if you would him he wont be able to strike on the next turn, but it still is I1 <_< but doubles strength. Iron Halo you should definitly have. Chain fists are only good against vehicles, but otherwise count as a powerfist. To battle demon princes and greater demons, shoot at long distance, except for maybe nurgle who strikes at I2 , but has 6 wounds .

Heres my new solution: Take a Librarian with familiar.
Sure, your still S4, but now you most likely strike first (I6), and only have to roll one 6.
The you just make your test on your force weapon (not too hard now using LD10), and bingo......they're dead.
Works well against all sorts of nastyness, Chaos Lords, Emps Champions, GK mastery people.
Two Lightning Claws.
against T4 you'll wound 75% of the time and strike at Initative.
even at T5 you wound 66%
and T6&7 you wound ~33% of the time.
and again, strike at ini.
however, you that doesn't float your boat, just get a Pfist!
