Okay, so i've read through the rulebook, read the new SM codex, checked out the FAQs, and at the very least, found them lacking. So, in hopes that a new SW codex will actually be released before I die, i'd like to gather some hopes and expectations. See how close we can get to how badly they'll nerf a very fluffy chapter. Here goes.
• Improved WS for BCs. Reduced BS and Initiative to even it.
• Assault ramps on Rhinos for points. Same goes to BA.
• Cheaper Grey Hunters. Or, allow them to use Bolters as Bolt Pistols when not charging. That'd be nice. And it'll never happen. But, hey. Nothing wrong with a useless rule, I guess..
• Make Wolf Scouts a little weaker. Bit overpowered as it stands.
• More than five men in a Long Fang pack. Raise the base troop price a bit to even it out.
• New IC abilities that every chapter doesn't get. I would have been happy with Rites of Battle and Litanies of Hate, but evidently, Wolf Lords can't lead like a Commander of any codex chapter can. I suppose those codex chapter commanders have extra training in shouting?
• Improvement for 13th Company.
• Cheaper Ven. Dread. Or comes with the assault cannon. OR, see below.
• No 1 HQ for every 750 rule. That cripples the pups terribly.
• No change in wargear. It's perfect. But, we know they'll nerf it.
• They can kill the Exterminator, even though it makes the Pups fluffy. Hate to see it go, but we all know it will.
• Cheaper and more balanced bikes/assault troops. They're horribly over-priced for what you actually get.
Alright, let's hear everyone else's opinions. Both improvements and nerfs.

Cry Cheese, And Let Loose The Wraithlords And Templar!
How about lifting the 0-1 limit on Exterminators, eh? As a someone who has a sickness for collecting IG models, Id like to be able to use more of them.
One thing that bugs the crap out of me, is that a Space Wolf who is so good he can swing a bolter around with one hand, cant get a shot off if he plans to assault. Amend "True Grit" to be even MORE pistol-like.
Other than that, I pretty much agree with what Cypher had to say.
Oh, one more thing. Maybe we can keep the "entire army can drop (for free! as long as every unit is droppable"? Can we, can we?! Come on... Ill be your friend!
I am the Aquila-Guerilla!
I pretty much agree with Cypher, however.
Let the exterminator stay, I won't be fair if BA and DA got to keep their special vehicles and we don't.I agree on the BS, but not the iniative.Improved WS for BCs. Reduced BS and Initiative to even it.NO NO, not a return to rhinorush, a hell of a lot of people are gonna get *****ed about this, next things World Eaters players are gonna call for it.Assault ramps on Rhinos for points. Same goes to BA.
Besides an assaultramp is mounted on the front of the vehicle.I disagree, I think that wolflord are more trickier as they don't follow the rules and "Rites of Battle" has nothing to do with training, it's simply his presencce that gives it and don't tell me a Wolf Lord doesn't have an inspiring presence.New IC abilities that every chapter doesn't get. I would have been happy with Rites of Battle and Litanies of Hate, but evidently, Wolf Lords can't lead like a Commander of any codex chapter can. I suppose those codex chapter commanders have extra training in shouting?Good point, right now, it's way to pricy for what it can do, and it shouldn't be the same as codex dreadnaughts.Cheaper Ven. Dread. Or comes with the assault cannon. OR, see below.
About the rhinorush. Maybe people get ****ed about reintroducing it. But for BCs it's a vital aspect of their use.
If that assaultramp is to good, introduce a rule like the following.
"Because of their eagerness to get into close combot, Bloodclaws are able to charge an enemy when aborting the rhino, razorback or landraider (crusader)."
And besides, because of that eagerness, they are impetuous.
Maybe scouts are overpowered, though I suggest just leaving them as they are. And I like the increased WS, decreased BS idea too. But don't lower the initiative. Better leave it as it is than decreasing initiative.
Further I agree with what's said before.
They're not going to give BC's the abilty to disembark and charge in the same turn. Nobody outside of a weak, open-topped vehicle (ork trukk) or an incredibley tough and points heavy vehicle (land raider) is going to be able to jump out and assault in the same turn. IT'S A CORE RULE. It was a major cause for the redesign of the 4th ed vehicle and assault rules!
You'll just have to increase your pack size to 15, young pup, and footslog it--or deal with the Rhino AS IS. Why don't you try using it for cover for a turn before you assault? Smoke launchers and Extra armor are no worse than before, either.
Space wolf scouts were really annoying, but the only thing I think is broke is that they can enter on the opposite deployment edge. If they simply behave like regular scouts, they're fine. Maybe give them the actual "Scout" ability to give them an extra move at the start of the game...that would be something special.
Also, don't expect them to get rid of the HQ requirement. One of the characterful things about a SW army was that it was supposed to be full of characters--hence the mandatory HQ choices.
I personally thought the LR Exterminator was a joke. AS IF the Space Wolves needed a larger Predator Destructor. If they REALLY wanted a tribute to their Primarch, they'd use a REGULAR Leman Russ which was his TRUE namesake. But we can't go give SM's a bunch of Imperial Guard battlecannons, now, can we? That's just a bit too much. So if it's all or none, I'd choose "none" in this case.
And I wouldn't mind getting rid of all the silly wargear and simply making a special skill list available to the heros would be better. I mean really, how does a necklace of wolf's teeth help a guy be better in hand to hand combat?
Purge all the heretics,
Kill the alien scum,
Suffer not the unclean to live,
And have a beer when you're done.
As you said before on the HQ case, it is the essence of the fluff of the SW. The HQ requirement reflects the caracter of the SW, so does all this wargear.Originally posted by 40Kgreybeard@Dec 7 2004, 23:25

Why not have a use for all those amulets and other stuff you hang over your models. And if you don't, it gives you a reason to do it.
personaly i'd like to see a change in fast attack somewhere. i don't think any army list i've ever made up for space wolves have filled out FA and ussualy i won't include any. i don't know what exactly i'm hoping for, but i'd like something. blood claw bike packs are nice and all, but i never use them in very large numbers and i guess i'd be happy to use landspeeders to, but $ wise, they're really not worth it. i'd like to be able to at least choose something else (that's actualy useful and isnt over expensive $ wise), even if i don't more often then not.
that's the thing about perfection, it can only get worse.
It doesn't. It was the task of hunting the beast and killing it in single hand to hand combat that improves the skill of the warrior. And yes allowing BC's to assault from transport would be terribly overpowered.I mean really, how does a necklace of wolf's teeth help a guy be better in hand to hand combat?

Iron priest just need the current upgrades from the latest SM dex.
what We need are
Iron priest adepts(maybe)
Rune priest adept
Wolf priest adepts
to fit in with the SM dex.
Wolfguard battle leader and Wolf lord would gain Rites of battle(Rites of the Wolf maybe)
maybe more Options for a Venerable Dready? for better leading armies?
i wouldnt mind a Great company "Trait system" allowing for more unique Battle companies. say for Blackmane company would get some sort of trait to better help with Drop pods? as they are more famous for drop pods? a Trait system for the SW? but not cheesey.
also it would allow SW players to play their Great companies how they wished.
This is a SW Fanboi Signing out
i complete agree with you Cypher.. nearly. these are my thoughts *points up*
There's a thread for this going already.
