I am very new to 40K and I am starting a Blood Angels Army. I purchased alot of models about 5 years ago and never "really" played. Anyways I have been reading alot (new rules and new codex) and have purchased a few new models.
Can anyone suggest some models I that am lacking that I really need or maybe just some feedback on the list. Thanks in Advice!!
Special Characters: Mephiston, Dante, and Tycho
Elites: 5 Termies, Vindicare Assasin, 8 Honour Guard, and 12 Death Co.
Troops: 30 Tactical
Fast Attack: 5 Assault Troops, 3 Marines on Bikes, 2 Landspeeder Tornados, and Landspeeder Typhoon
Heavy Support: Whirlwind, Predator Annilator, and Baal Predator
More assault troops.
Death Company with Jumpacks. Chaplain special character or just a chaplain w/ jump pack.
Thats all you "really" need.
Mentor of Space Marine Commanders far and wide.
Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
My BA army is essentially a chaplain with a death company (10 models) w/jet packs, 2 land speeders and a dread and pretty much the rest are assault marines. Its works pretty good despite being alot of pts, and getting the shaft in escalation games ! Whirlwind is a bit tough since it could move at the start of your turn, but depending on who your playing it could be a good choice.
Sorry, Yes all of my special characters, chaplans, and death co. have jumppacks.
Most people tell me that BA termies are worthless, but I do not believe so, get some assault termies and a LR Crusaider, your enemies will fear you.
Tact is for people who give a damn. I'm not one of those people.
For the low price of 500 pts.. Assault terminators are too lethal. You dont *need* a bunch of lightning claw guys as you want to kill the opponent in their turn, not yours
1 unit isn't going to win you the game, its a combination of many. Also you cant give Mephiston or tycho jumpacks, does it say they come equipped with it? No, therefore they cant have it
Also there are like 5 threads about starting blood angels, all this spam is getting sorta annoying when there is a lot of research material already there. You cannot use the assassin without an inquisitor lord, either way the vindicare isn't worth his points. Dante cannot be used unless you're playing 2000pts as he is a chapter master.
Tactical marines are good, and so are assault marines. BA's do not need or want tanks as tanks die too easy and don't do enough damage. Just get lascannons in tactical squads and use your assault troops to get close to the enemy
I'm not a big fan of terminators as the cheapest way of getting them to the enemy is deepstrike them; and then there a free target for the enemy. Giving them a crusader just makes them to big a target (pts wise) in one area. As for tanks, while the Baal seems real nice, but I find fast vehicles (landspeeders) more able to support my advance for my assault troops. A dread is nice to because it can give you a boost in cc (counts as 10 models, and most guys can't hurt armor 12 in cc).
You could waste a lot of points on assault troops that you don't need. The Chaplain with DC and ONE squad of assault marines is enough to pin down the enemy while your tactical squads are advancing with the support of a couple of Predator tanks. I don't think they die that easily, especially if you give them Power of the Machine spirit upgrades. And they can pump out a lot of mobile firepower. Personally I like the Annhilators with HB's, but Baal's with HB's would be fluffier and do just as well, I think. Landspeeders are also really good mobile gun platforms, though a little fragile. The advantage of the tanks is they can move with the troops and soak up some incoming fire.Originally posted by Kirasu@Dec 7 2004, 11:53

Just put plasma/melta guns in the tac squads and maybe upgrade the sgts to have power fists/weapons and with their Furious Charge they'll wreak havoc on anything that the DC and Assault squad leave behind.
