Right, the next edition I wish to make to my IG army is the introduction of an Inquisitor Lord, partly for fluff and partly because they look good on the field. The main bulk of my IG are troops and infantry (three full troop platoons, and 2+command heavy weapon platoon, stormtrooper squad, two sentinals and an armoured fist squad) and I was looking for a character to compliment these. My initial thughts are leaning me towards an =I= Lord, with a retinue of two Flamers, acolyte, familiar and sage.

The big question for you guys is... Ordo Hereticus or OrdoMalleus? I was leaning towards an Ordo Heriticus Inquisitor, tooled out with a powersword and somekinda pistol (probably plasma), and then a few psyker powers. However, it seems that far more people field Deamonhunters as allies rather than Witchhunters, seeing as I never plan to field Grey Knights, is there any real difference between the two, I expect the only other units i would be tempted to induct would be either a Assassin (Vindicare or Calexus) or Dominion Squad in an Imolator.

So, would there be any major reasons to choose a Deamonhunter over a Witchhunter?

Well, if you're thinking of adding sisters of battle the choice is easy: only witchhunters can have them.
Otherwise it's more a question of fluff and image what you take. Daemonhunters are thunderhammer-to-head type inquisitors, while witchhunters like a dark leather coats and skulking in the shadows. (at least, that's my opinion :)
98% of the teenage population does or has tried smoking pot.
The other 2% are smart enough to question the 'science' behind that number...
And it's spelled EMPEROR!

I definaly prefer the Witchhunter image and models. Seems to fit more with my idea of an inquisitor, the trench-coated, all powerfull Imperial servant rather than a super warior.
Having the SoB's isnt important at all. The main reason for inducting either army would be for the inquisitor, so, ultimatly, for the Inquisitors on their own there is no real difference, right?

That being the case, are there any good recomendations for weapons / wargear?

Daemonhunters inquisitors are better for shooting, as they can be given psycannons.

Witch hunters get crusaders as henchmen, though I think its a toss up whether crusaders or combat servitors are better.

DH better in CC due to 2+ save and Thunderhammer (and StormShield Acolytes).
and against deamons... DH obviously kick ass.

and i think only DH can allow DeamonHosts. granted deamonhosts are really a aquired taste... but they're fun and you can take Emperors Tarot, which gives you better chance of going first... which in an IG army.. is nice!

WH are excellent against psykers. and crusaders are cool (too bad S3 powerweapons are NOT the best). and SoB are better than GK (imho), due to their cost/effectivness. and then there's all those crazy WH units... but alot of them require priests.

imo, if you don't wanna use GK or SOB use DH in an IG force. simply because they bring the better H2H ability. i'd never take a shooty Inq in a IG army cause IG has plenty of shooting ability on it's own, what it does lack is counter units. and a Inq Lord w/ Thunder hammer and a 2+/4+inv save w/ henchmen is nice

i run a DH Inq Lord with Thunderhammer, 2+/4+inv save, CC servitor, Vet w/ Flamer, Aco w/ SShield. (& Emperors Tarot). i then either take an Eversor Assassin, or 2 DCA, or a Deamonhost.

NOT* added in 3rd paragraph, thanks to the Generals acute observation

I take it you mean "S3 powerweapons aren't the best"?

You're right about DH with all their thunder hammers and such, though.

Well, I finally came to a decision about my Inquisitor and this is what I have come up with...

Ordo Heriticus Inquisitor Lord
- Nova Storm (Master Crafted Plasma Gun)
- Gauntlet of Judgement (Bionics, PowerWeapon, Digi-Weapon)
- Hexagrammic Wards
- Purity Seals
- Purgatus (Pysker Power)
Sage (Autosavant)
- LasPistol
- CCW
Chirugeon (Sister Hospitaller)
- LasPistol
- CCW
Warrior (Inquisitorial Guardsman)
- Hellgun
- Targetter
Warrior (Inquisitorial Guardsman)
- Hellgun
- Targetter
Warrior (Inquisitorial Guardsman)
- Flamer
Acolyte
- PowerSword
- Holy Shield (Carapace Armor, CCW)
Familiar (Servo-Skull)
- CCW
Inquisitorial Chimera
Multi-Laser Turret
Heavy Bolter
Storm Bolter
Dozer Blades
Extra Armor

This gives me
* A well equiped Inquisitor
* Provides decent Rapid Fire support for the Plasmagun with the two hellguns
* Has a flamer and good CC Acolyte if the enemy get too close
* The range of retinue members should give me a good spread of stat bonuses
* The Chimera provides decent heavy weapon support, even if its never actually used to transport

So, any opinions? Such a shame that the WitchHunter chimeras only get about half the avaliable upgrades of IG chimeras

You can only have three warrior henchmen, and unfortunately your Crusader counts as one of em. You amy have to get ris of a guardsman. Other than that, looks pretty awesome, I like the "Gauntlet of Justice" or whatever it was! Nice.
