How do you beat Necrons. I need 2 kno because necrons is about the only Race im gonna play for about six months. so how?
ok...bikes with metla guns and assault troops with plasma pistold and power weapons... dont have to many vehicles to..have a rhino and a land speeder and a whirlwind (a whirlwind because its a barrage weapon so place it behind a building) because there guns can glance no matter what.
give your guys lightning claws and power weapons....they suck at cose combat necrons do...so get ing hard and fst and they will die. them more close combat attacks the better so have assault troops.
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
kill them ONE SQUAD AT A TIME. target a squad that is somewhat isolated and take it out down to the man to deny it's WBB role.
don't be distracted by non Necron. work towords phase out.
keep your cool and don't panic! oh and don't take lots of armor...
i know its hard, but ignore scarab swarms, C'Tans, and other units that dont count towards the pahse out. If you can wipe out the units of warriors and the immortals and phase the rest of the army out, your set on the money.
A wise man once said: Blow me @$$wipe
Winning against Necrons is easy, once you know which units to target first.
1. Tomb spiders have to go first. they can bring necrons back.
2. Try to concentrate on one unit at a time, so that you deny them the we will be back roll (as has been mentioned before.
3. Try not to concentrate on units that do not count against the phasing out number (as has been mentioned before)
once you know this three things you can set up an army accordingly:
1. Heavy Plasma Cannons work wonders (youc an wipe out entire squads in one turn if you are a bit lucky)
2. Lascannons work well agianst tomb spiders and the jet bike guys.
3. A vindicator works well. The Whirlwind doesn't work too well because of the good necron armor.
4. Powerfists work well.
5. SM Characters tooled for CC work well, too.
6. Don't rely to much on vehicles
Shut up and play.
heres a couple appreciable weaknesses I've spotted in the Necron army I love to exploit. Any good army can exploit these, but heres what I do as a Space Marine player.
1/Weapon Ranges. The average necron gun range is 24", while destroyers and heavy destroyers are 36" each. What has this to do with anything? Well Necron destroyers are squads of 1-3/5, so its not hard to knock out the entire squad and deny em Wbb roles. Just shoot em up with your first shooting phase with missile launchers, lascannons, plasma cannons. The entire enemy army now has 24" range. What you do now is look down the barrel of your Vindicator, and smile as they now have to come in Demolisher cannon range to shoot you. Basically...necrons dont like Vindicators. They blow large holes in those expensive warrior squads, and deny them their WBB roles. Even better, even their immortals dont get WBB. And if their lord hasnt got a destroyer body, you can insta-kill him too. Even the monolith doesnt like chewing demolisher cannon, especially if its right under the template
2/Power Weapons/Terminators. To be short, necrons lack power weapons. "what are you on about, they have the warscythes dude?" Yes, but run down the Necron army, the only power weapons are on the Lord, the Pariahs (never seen em used) and on the Tomb Spiders. The Pariahs are I3, the Tomb Spider I2, and the Lord I4. Say hello to the Lightning Clawed terminator. Get them into combat they chew through Necrons like no tomorrow, 6 assault termies > 20 Necron warriors. Necrons dont like +2 armour saves. The only stumbling block is the Necron Lord. He can kill your Termies. The solution is take a terminator armour chaplain/librarian and stick him in with your termies. With I5, the lord can be force weapon killed. Or with a chaplain, you can charge, get 4 attacks each termie, re-roll to hit, re-roll to wound, no armour save, no we'll be back. See where Im going here? Only exception is if he has a nightbringer....then stay away.....FAR away.
The only thing I've seen kill the Nightbringer in hth is a GK grandmaster, so you could always take one as your an imperial player. But even then, its no sure bet.
I played the same Necron player twice and won both times. The key is to use all your advantages. Playing BA, I obviously could assault better then him, he respected this ability and kept his distance which allowed me to play conservitive and shoot him up. The second game was more ruthless with assaults from turn 2 till 6 and I still won. The point is to pick a strength and maximize on it. You should be able to outmanuever and outshoot your opponent, have the objective and phaseout in mind.
High Elves (BloodBowl)
Warseer Blood Bowl League
yes thats all good but wat about VoD? he's planning to transport behind it or close to it with 10 imortals and just blow the shi t out of it.
I made a similar post just my dilemma was I had imperial guard and alot of lasguns. i think your best bet is to go with lascannons for those heavy units and if they come close use powerswords, those usually work well and like what was posted above, i think killing one squad at a time is gonna be your best bet, make sure they don't come back up.
Whats the points limit on this game? Because if he's using a C'tan and a monolith, he'll be eating up lots of points on two units which means the remainder can be shot up and you might get lucky with a phase out and you won't need to bother so much with the monolith and the C'tan.
Look not where you Fell, but where you Slipped
Winning against Space Marines is easy, once you know which units to target first.
1. Vindicators have to go first. Necrons don't like them.
2. Try to concentrate on units with Plasma Cannons. We don't like them either.
3. Try not to concentrate on any units without LasCannons, Power Fists, Plasma Cannons or Vindicators (asas has been mentioned before)
once you know this three things you can set up an army accordingly:
1. Particle Whip work wonders (you can wipe out entire squads in one turn if you are a bit lucky)
2. Hvy. gauss cannon work well agianst Vehicles, Termies and the bike guys.
3. A Monolith works well. Wraiths don't work too well because of the good Space Marine armor.
4. Warscythes work well.
5. Necron Lord tooled for CC work well, too.
6. Concentrate on their vehicles.
Heres a couple appreciable weaknesses I've spotted in the Space Marine army I love to exploit. Any good army can exploit these, but heres what I do as a Necron player.
1/Weapon Ranges. The average Space Marine gun range is 24", while devastator squads have 36"-48" each. What has this to do with anything? Well Space Marine Devastators are squads of 5-6, so its not hard to knock out the entire squad. Just shoot em up with your first shooting phase with Hvy. Gauss Cannons, Gauss Cannons and Gauss Blasters. The entire enemy army now has 24" range. They blow large holes in those expensive marine squads. Even better, even their Termies dont get armor roll if they're right under the template. And if their commander hasnt got a termie armor, you can insta-kill him too. Even the Predator/Vindicator doesnt like chewing Particle Whip, especially if its right under the template.
2/War scythes/C'tan(s). To be short, space marine lack power weapons. "what are you on about, they have Termies dude?" Yes, but run down the space marine army, the only power weapons are on the commander, the Termies and on the Veteran Sergeants. Termies are I1. Say hello to the Pariahs. Get them into combat they chew through Space Marines like no tomorrow, 6 Pariahs > 20 Space Marines. Space Marines dont like WBB rolls. The only stumbling block is the Vindicator. He can kill your warriors. The solution is take a Monolith or two or three. Let them deepstrike in their army and blow them to pieces with your Particle Whip and Gauss Flux Arc Projectors. See where Im going here? Only exception is if he has a Titan....then stay away.....FAR away.
