They are second founding chapter (I believe), they are one of the cursed chapters (2004 Chapter Approved), and they never ally with any other imperial force. They appear and disappear at times of need. That all I know.
"You can't say that civilization don't advance, however, for in every war they kill you in a new way." - Will Roger
that's kind of obsolete rules you are mentioning there
they no longer dissapear and all that, they do suffer from ome (pretty serious) drawbacks.
A quick google search reveals the truth: Legion of the Damned
It's and OLD article from WD99 so some things may have changed as GW rewrites it's fluff quite often. The chapter approved article is pretty short IIRC and doesn't have a lot of fluff in it.
If you are collecting LotD, you'll need to do a lot of conversions (they have two troop types, tactical and devastators lol)
A good tip is to buy a tomb kings regiment/calvary and a dreadnought or some bikes. GW UK has some great conversion tips for them.... I'll post my army when i get my new digital camera
Or you can buy them directly and pay through your nose.
Legion Of The Damned....
They have a 6+ Inv save (so do their vehicles believe it or not)
Their squads and vehicles set up at the beginning of the game but do so using Deep Strike.
They're limited in the amount of Heavy Support Vehicles they may have.
They cost +5 pts per figure & +10 pts per vehicle.
They may be used as allies to forces of the Imperium but the Imperium will never ally with them.
They have special units only available to Cursed Foundin Chapters.
And yes... they're cool!!!
They make a nice allie for other SM chapters. Just show up on a whim. To give your army a little difference they are nice. Just think about a deepstriking Drednaught that doesn't need a Drop Pod and get's an invaulnerable save for just 10 points extra. Hummmmmmm, add in a Tac squad to support him and watch the fur fly.
breath, sight, squeeze.
now double tap just for grins
and Another One bite's the dust.
A bolter round for all that oppose the Emperor.
btw do you still need opponents permission to play in tourneys? I couldn't play for several rounds cos one of the opponents didn't like the idea of a dreadnought deepstriking right in front of his army (he was tau so I guess he wouldn't want anything deepstriking in his face)
To be honest, I'm not sure but....
I would suggest they are a legitimate Chapter now as they have appeared in "Chapter Approved" which is pretty much Games Workshop's way of saying they're legal to use.
I'm under the impression that "Chapter Approved" means you can use them without permission.
