I was thinking of Crimson Fists the other day, and i always thought they were cool, but i dont know anything about them. I know there pretty much codex but im not 100% sure what that means. If you guys have any ideas of what i should compose my army list out of or where i should start, please tell me
Start by getting the new codex. There is a section within titled chapters of great renown, or something to that effect, which has the traits for some famous chapters, including the crimson firsts.

yup, crimson fists are there.
what's so cool about them anyway?
i just like the way they look, with the blue and the redness
I imagine they will be more difficult to play, with their disadvantages, but should be a good challenge.Originally posted by Havock@Dec 18 2004, 12:26

Cool I always loved the Crimson fists too. 1 word for you though: Powerfist. Every sqaud should have a vet sarge with PF and all characters shoul also have them.
I play Crimson Fists (though I'm looking to start a new army for 4th Ed) and they have served me well. I do think Fists are fluffy, but I wouldn't put them on Commanders--their initiative is too important. I've got a dreadnaught with a nice BIG fist, and he gets to go on Initiative as well. Nasty!
Though the space marines codex gives you some traits that reflect their decimation after the invasion of Snadgrod the Arch Arsonist of Charradon which destroyed their fortress monestary and 90%+ of their chapter, you don't have to use the traits if you don't want to. It says in the paragraph at the top of that page that all these chapters can use the regular rules. You could simply say that your army is pre-invasion or something like that.
If you want to know where to start I'd highly recommend the MEGAforce boxed set, if you can find it. If you do a search on the UK GW site I think you can find it. I don't know if it's still available with the release of the new edition though.
It costs about $120 if I remember right, and has 15 tactical marines, a Rhino, a Dreadnaught, a Predator, and an Assault Squad. One more tactical squad, a HQ, and some bitz will give you a nice balanced 1000 pt army. There's a discussion on this forum about it, actually.
