Hi, so basicaly im new and im a necron player. I have coem to your forum because you guys can help me the most. My friend plays Dark Angels and has basically tried to "scare" me by saying "these units are gonna go right thru this and that". I know its all talk, but basically i need all the advice i can get. I know he has a vindicator, will this cause me lots of problems? What i need you to tell me is the general strategies he may choose to use against me so im more prepared. Like which units are going to be most deadly and hence i should take out first wtih detroyers or something. Besides the vinidcator i know he has tactical squad with jump jet tings, termies, some normal marines with cc weapons and rocket launchers etc. Sorry i cant be more specific but i havent bothered to get a hold of his codex and read all the units. I plan to do this, but any help i can get from you guys would be appreciated.
Vindicator is deadly if he uses it right and you play it wrong. You should be able to take it out with a heavy destroyer or a destroyer squad. Actually anything mass fired will work since the gauss will glance anything. Teleporting 20 warriors and rapid firing it should do the trick allthough probily overkill. All you need to do is shake it. Terminators could be a problem and I would recommend pariahs if you have any since they ignore any type of save (ie Inv). If you can take out his HQ and vindicator you should be set to win. If you have a monolith that could greatly increase your chances of wwb against his plasma cannons. Also if he assaults you it can pull the unit out so you can shoot him.
to be honest if i was you i wouldent be afraid of a vindicator if you have destroyers. i mean 3 shots each so have like 5 and in one turn it will get immobalized and stuff or even blown up...YOUR A NECRON PLAYER!!!!
but if you have pahrias (bad spelling sorrry) and get them into cc you will get him down bad...and necorn worriers are not close combat fighters so what ever you do stay away from close combat with these guys...and you win...i used to be a cron player myself
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
I have a large Necron army and it has been my experience that NOTHING goes right through it.
You have as many units deadly to him as he has to you. The vidicator is not a problem because everything you have can glance on a dice roll of 6.
Necrons fare best when they play the numbers game. Pile up on warriors and drop out many of the expensive units.
A lord on a destroyer body with a bodyguard of wraiths will mince all but the toughest units.
As a Necron player you have nothing to fear from a Dark Angels army (or any other for that matter). Your biggest enemy is your stratagy.
I find that vindicators and guys with power fists rip straight through any necron army.Originally posted by wolfkin@Dec 27 2004, 08:47

The Night Bringers
"May the Darkness Preserve us!"
Yes, true, but my point is that the Necrons are not in any way helpless against Vindicators, or even Power Fists for that matter.Originally posted by Log@Dec 27 2004, 19:28

Vindicators and Power Fists fare well against any enemy and people are well aware of it.
The Necrons have more than enough firepower to bring down a Vindicator without too much effort, and Power Fists are attached to Marines, and Marines die like anyone else under enough fire.
Necrons are a tough army, more than capable of standing up to Marines. In fact, I feel Necrons are possibly the best suited force to take on most other races and armies as their strategy is generally the same whomever they are fighting.
No race, in my personal opinion, finds it easy to take on Necrons, but likewise, the Necrons seldom find it easy to take on any other race.
I find Necrons have a harder time with 3+ armor save armies, but anything that depends on vehicles (IG) or 4+ armor save get recked by gauss weapons. Vindicator would get smoked first turn for sure. Destroyers (or heavy) move 12" and can still fire there range 36, or 48" weapon which means the Vindicator is going to get hit unless its hiding. Don't underestimate Necrons in cc either. Warscythes will give you an education in cc, not to mention warriors will pop back up.
As much as giving advice to an enemy of the imperium pains me (and I'm sure the inquisitor is on his way)
Don't fear his units. Make him fear yours. If he takes tons of armour against you, then more fool him, as the best thing I find against necrons is a lot of troops.
One lone vindidator shouldn't be a problem. To start with, its short ranged. And it scatters, so the chance of a direct hit isn't great. So unless you deploy close, its going to have to move out of hiding and come to you. When it does this, its dead. Every weapon you have can stop it in its tracks. You may only have a small chance of glancing, but with the amount of fire that destroyers and warriors can put out, your bound to get at least one. Secondly, its heavy support, so look where he deploys it, and just keep well away from it if you're that scared of it.
CC can go badly for your warriors (and thats the things he'll want to kill off first if he knows what he's doing to force phase out) so thats what you need to worry about. Make assualt marines and CC scouts your firing priorities, then mop up the rest of the units he has. Ok so he may pick off the odd necron with a lascannon or krak missile, but you can afford those losses whilst you make life easier for yourself.
