Well I'm feeling a bit unsure of Vet squads and whether to use them. The prob is that they are so expensive! So I have 3 big questions about Vets which want answering...
PS. The squad in question is the boxed set (maybe plus 1/2 more)
A)Are Vet squads worth their points?
If I take one, should I give them all Termie Honours? (that's expensive!
C)How can I get the Vet squad into CC? (u can't get jump packs for them ...)
I was thinking the same thing. My Vet. squad that I added up was like less then 30 points per guys.
And would a Black Templar Player be able to take the furious charge ability? bc they come with it automatically. And i dont have the armageddon Codex near me, can the vet squad take a Vet. Sergeant? or is it just HQ squads for me?
And they are 12 points less then termies (i dont think that gives away points values) So termies might be a better value, but vets are cool (i usually dont win so i just try out new things all of the time, its so much fun). And i forget how much the claws and power weapon cost. But you can always use them in a LR to accompany your HQ. (preferablly crusader). I hope this helps.

the veteran sqaud is taken directly from the SM codex so they would can have a veteran sergeant with them, if you want to give them terminator honours make them a good cc sqaud.
2 power weapons and a pair of lightning claws, also if they are in the cc role use furious charge to give them that extar boost.
I think if your playing a specific chapter you can't take additional upgrades like furious charge, I know for BA you can't take additional abilities since everyone gets furious charge for free.
High Elves (BloodBowl)
Warseer Blood Bowl League
Why not tool up a vet squad for ranged fire power, it would be cheaper than a CC unit and it would be something that probably no one has done yet since the CC units look so cool. By cheaper I mean no termi honours etc.
ok vet squads are a pin custion so the thing is when you dont have them in a rhino or something they get shot at because of there cc ability...i mean a pair of lightning claws s a frightning sight. so put em in a trasport and then chuck them in a massive squad of enemy...so have a razor back with Hvy bolters and then go to the biggest enemy squad, weather it be the weakest or the strongest hit them hard and you will loose a few guys and kill alot of guys but the close combat ability they have is awsome.just dont go into a squad of ork slugger boyz...because they reduce your armor save!!!
P.S. Blood angels rule, the anger lets us ignore wounds ...hehehe
1/ I think they are, they add a good extra bit of hth punch to SM armies. Dont be fooled into taking the 30pt lightning claws on a 2 attack marine, but 8 Marines W/ CCWs, and 2 W/ Power weapon (one being the Term honour sergeant), joined by a chaplain = 24 normal attacks + 7 power weapon attacks, re-rolling misses? Thats not including the chaplain himself's 5 odd power weapon attacks...cheap at the price.
2/ No, never take them with terminator honours. Too expensive. Its nearly as expensive as buying another tactical squad, which would be better and more flexible. Spend those points on more marines.
3/ How to get them up the board faster? Simple, take infiltrate, thats where the extra 3 points per man come in. For an extra 30 points for a 10 man squad you start off 12/18 inches away, and get to go down after your opponent has deployed. Thats cheaper than a Rhino, and arguably more effective as unlike the Rhino you dont spend time moving to that point/ your paid for mobility can get knocked out in turn one and make you footslog, as you are already there. Sure to give a Tau/Imperial Guard player a headache. As I said.....cheap at the price.
If they have 2 heavy weapons slots, they will be good with their Tank Hunters Skill.
But I like Your idea, Addoran :shifty:
