Ive read the Dex and been over it with a fine tooth comb and cannot for the life of me find anything that states thats you can only have ONE alternate organisation.

this being the case, these doctrines define my army...

    Drop troops
    Grenadiers
    Storm Trooper Squads
    Special Weapons Sqauds
    Sharpshooter Drill

What do you think.the idea will be to have 4-6 units of storm troopers, all DSing, supported by a leman russ, basalisk, some anti-armor teams (1), fire support teams (2) 4 heavy bolters and 2 autocannons, and 2 special weapons sqauds(2 sniper rifles, 6 normal gaurd).

    cheers

I like the idea, but you can only have Stormtroopers Deepstrike, not Grenadiers. So you could only have 3 squads max DS.

For Snipers, I like to add Deathworld Snipers from the Catachan Codex as an Elite Choice. One benefit they have is they re-roll to wound. A squad of three of these usually takes out a Wraithlord, or other such Monsterour creature!

    Cheers!

That's true - the Drop Troopers doctrine allows Imperial Guard Units or something like that - which is clearly defined as being command squads, platoons, etc. Storm Troopers are just a restricted troop - so only your Elite ST can deepstrike.

it actually says all IG Infantry units may DS.

so, accordingly, the ST bought as troops would be able to DS.

Can you do that ? add deathworld snipers to a doctrined list ? do they count as elites ?

    Cheers

"Guard Infantry" is very specifically defined in the Codex on page 55, left hand column near the bottom, and it doesn't mention Grenadiers, so they can't be deepstriked.

It specifically sais under Grenadiers "These Storm Troopers may not Deep Strike or Infiltrate"

Yes Deathworld snipers are an Elite Choice.

Is the Catachan Codex still legal to use w/ the IG Codex, or just on its own?

PS: Sharpshooters are best given to your heavy weapons squads, statistically speaking a normal squad of guardsmen are not worth the points of sharpshooters.

It says these may not deep strike or infiltrate, meaning they cant buy the infiltarte or deep strike upgrade under the Storm Trooper entry.

What does it define as infantry ? as in, which units does it specifically define as Infantry units (you wont be breaking CR, just list them)

    cheers

Thanks for helping me out with that. I forgot the term they used for it, so yeah...

And Grenadiers don't benefit from Drop Troops...as everyone's said, so I'll be going.
