Does anyone here have any expirience using thunderhawk?
Is it worth of its price?
I've glanced at the rules and say no. From a fluff, or just cool looking suicidal mission, I think they're great. I'm building one now, and when I don't plan on winning I'll use it.
40k isn't designed for flyers, they just don't make sense and have solid rules. I think by the time you roll for it in reserves, move on the table, land, get out, move to assualt, the game is just about over.
Think of it this way, you can get a Thunderhawk or 3 Land Raiders. Enough said.
A Thunderhawk is very powerfull and it takes a lot of firepower just to bring one down.
Also they are about the ltimate enterpiece for any GK or SM army and it will certainly make people actually notice your army when you display it.
Oh and tkenyon, it's 2,5 landraider for a single Thunderhawk.
I'd love to buy one when I'm a more experienced painter (I don't think I could do it justice yet), but I don't imagine playing with one much. Cool as hell, and a fluffy transport for GK, but not the most cost-effective buy. Imagine what your opponent's could field in regular 40K models for that many points, while you just have to wait for reserves!
theres actually a Grey Knight Thunderhawk made by Forgeworld if you already didnt know this. The only reason for me to get one is for it too make my army look better. I more of a paint and displayer than an actual gamer
[40k] - Dark Eldar
don't pay £375 for one (or however much it costs)
try to build one yourself
Scratch built thunderhawk
it'll be a lot cheaper.
they are pretty cool in really huge battles. in a 20000 point battle (fun) we had 3 of them. (and 3 superheavy tanks)
