hi,
im wondering what to get next, ive got 7 scouts (two of them are snipers) 10 marines (cant remeber what the have, most of them got bolters of course) a 6 man squad of marines in a razorback (havent assembled the tank yet, should i get lascannons or heavy bolters) a dread (prob gonna give him the lascannon) and a landspeeder. it is a mobile army so far (note: not fast tho) and i would like to keep it that way. any ideas what to get next, i dont have much money right now so not anything over expensive. the fluff behind the army is a kinda badly equipped (for marines) and is on a desert world. they are painted mainly camo green and with some bleached bone. im thinking like a crusaders army, (im gonna call my dread rodrigo [dont worry if you dont get it, its something in history])
so, that may not have made much sense but what should i get next?

Are you likely to play against the same army type regularly? If so it will be worth arming your razorback and dreadnaught accordingly - lascannons for armoured troops/vehicles/tanks, bolters/assaultcannons against hive/troop heavy armies.

HQ is needed to make your army legal, as mentioned above, and then it depends on what kind of army you are likely to be going up against. Tactical squad or Devastator squad might be an idea for extra firepower, or combine your mobile army idea with more firepower and get bikes and an attack bike.
Space Wolves are badasses that operate just barely within the rules.
13th Co. didn't even know there were rules applying to how badass they could be.

... and Daemonhunters make it three - now just need a spare room to store it all!!!

What do you mean by "kind of badly equipped?" What restrictions do you plan to place on yourself?

If you want to stay mobile I suggest a rhino for the tac squad.

Bikes and speeders seem like good choices for the desert.

How 'bout a chaplain on a bike?

Assault squad?

Predator tank?

I would do something about your scouts. I bet 5 of them are close combat scouts and 2 are snipers. You should buy

- a blister pack of close combat scouts (they come in packs of 3 now at my GW)
- more snipers (2 blister packs = 4 snipers) and either a heavy bolter scout or a missle launcher scout.

This will be good for your scouts. If you want to complete the units later pick up some more blister packs. I suggest giving your vet sgt in the close combat squad a power weapon or powerfist.

Blister packs are $12 Canadian so that's pretty light on the wallet.

oops, forgot to say i have the old commander model
ok, heres some fluff about the army so you can understand what its gonna be like:
the desert raptors are stationed on a series of desert planets to defend from ork, dark eldar and sometimes even the tau. they supply routes to these planets are bad so that chapter usually is lightly equipt, (so no devestators) and has little to no plasma weapons. they have few heavy tanks, but many transports like razorbacks. they where created from the geneseed of the raven guard.
ok theres the basic outline, i would like to get bikes next, they are good models to
(dam i hate my landspeeder mini)

if your going with the speed theme, might i suggest a chaplain and a nice unit of assault marines to go with him. fast and deadly!
The Holy Bolter

998. model bolter: Godwyn pattern with ammo counter, sinister/dexter lock mechanism and sickle magazine with 30 rounds of .75 calibre bolts with diamantine tips, depleted deuterium core & mass reactive detonators. Fires in 4 round bursts.

"A bolter is a treasured weapon; but in the hands of a Space Marine it is a divine instrument of the Emperor's wrath"

If you are considering traits, then Aspire To Glory would represent this nicely.

they where created from the geneseed of the raven guard.
it is a mobile army so far (note: not fast tho) and i would like to keep it that way
These to pieces of information together really call out for Assault Marines.

Sounds like an army I have heard of already...google search 'Star Foxes', they have a dessert, fast attack fluff behind them as well.
