Some people seemed to have combined armies such as cadians with sisters of battle in them. How can i combine with another race? Is it legal? Can tyranids be in my Army?
I think there is a really bizarre army list out there that lets you use Tyranid Genestealers along with Guardsmen (though maybe just Guard models). Its listed on the GW 40k website under Imperial Guard someplace.
Allies can be a lot of fun, and I would say the most popular ally is actually Guard itself! If you get a Witch Hunter of Demon Hunter codex, you will have all the rules you need for playing Imperial Guard with WH or DH allies, or to play a WH or DH force with "inducted Guard" units.
Both have their weaknesses and strengths and I would suggest stopping by your local gaming store and reading through the codexes.
There are also lesser played allies (such as Kroot Mercenaries) which are found in books like the Chapter Approved releases.
Sorry you can't really field bugs in your army, but I will see if I can dig up a link to that weird list I referred to.
EDIT: Scroll all the way down to the bottom of this page for an interesting idea that involves Guard and Tyranids GW Strange Doctrine IG Armies

Thank you alot for the info and the link! I think I will try the genestealer cult as my other army is Tyranids.
Note that you cant use genestealers, patriarches, or anything else like that using that list of doctrines. The actual rules for genestealers cults can be found here, though it isnt any more legal to field this army than stuffing stealers into a normal IG list.
