Who's got some usefull tips?
you should mass him.
put up more marines then him, easy since his standard marine costs 28 pt. or so.
only thing is, his standard marine hits in closecombat with strength 6.
and put up a few instant killers against the terminators.
termies have powerweapon and hit with strength 6
Firstly, if u get any chances to shoot him, do so (unless it severely hampers your assault capability)
against his teminators, use assault marines with 2 power fists and storm shields (roughly 6 in the squad of 10), also if u want, take a chaplain with a jumpack to support them. THe storm shields will dramastically lessen your casualties, u should be charging because they are faster, and the power firsts can seriously damage him (if he loses a terminator, think about just how many points he just lost)
his ground troops u can deal with through numbers (i rarely get to say that about BT), use the EC to deal with justicars- he will probably lose against any other grey knight character, and so just challenge them and u should be ok
if he takes an inquisitor with retinue etc, just shooting it should seem them off (LRC would be good at this, large amounts of weak troops are what hurricanes were designed for)
His commander will usually be surrounded by terminators so if u can deal with him, a command squad with a tooled up marshal and characters with power weapons should probably overwhelm him (assuming he is a grand master)
Yes, about that challenge. I thought i could only do that to special characters. So lords and vet. sarge. can be challenged as well??
you can challegenge any character.
a model is a character when it can take stuff out of the armoury.
so you can challenge hq's and vet. sergeants
dont worry about the guard, they are solely in his army to distract you, so dont get distracted by it :lol:
yer, what marshal said, most of the GK's firing range will be 24" or under, with the odd 36"~ so try to out shoot him heh, if you do get into combat with pure GK's, try to outnumber them at least one marine one neophyte, at least..
anyway good luck with it, i dunno about the templars, but take a vindicator if you can, his strength 6 psycannons cant pop the vindicator's 13 front armour, and he will be trying to CC you anyway, and walking towards you, right into the range of your vindicator. just make sure to take out any of the heavy weapons in the guard armies, maybe take an assassin to pick them off / pin down the squad
ok how about this then:
a vindicare assasin
2 dreaghtnoughts with plasma cannon and ccw with stormbolter (or heavy flamer?)
and a squad of 5 marines with plasma cannon and plasma gun.
ya know, that vindicator won't be doing much after turn 2, if you move towards him.
and grey knights can't be pinned.
their special rule.
it's not the pinning i'm after. It's te big pancake i'm after.
I would suggest, only plasma cannons.
the more ap2/3 weapons the better.
hold down a assault squad, until they get close enough.
remember about the shrouding, don't count to much on shooting.
