Is commissar yarrick worth his massive ammount of points... i have read what he has and he seems pretty awsome but how effect is he really on the battle field... and is he used instead of an officer in a hq command squad
He is used as an add to your command squad, and he is worth it, that force field is super hot.

He was amazingly worth his points in the old IG book. Ahh the old days when he could get back up and had T4 coupled with his Forcefield. He could take on Old One Eye, indeed for me he did.
But now......He can add flavour and some nice CC fun. However he cannot hold up well vs any combat specialists. He is a good counter charge but you don't really want a 100 point plus character for counter charge watch duties.
Archaon's Top Tip for profiting from the End Time: Pillage before you burn
When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
Well, umm, me and my brother did some proxy tests and to our great surprise he killed:
O'Shava (sp? tau guy with big sword)
Space marine master with lightning claws
He lost once to the tau guy ( geez,) but otherwise slaughtered everyone to good effect.
But I lament he is nolonger as powerful as in the days of the old codex, but still, his force field is still effective and works really well against S4 or S3 people, most of their attacks are stopped dead in their tracks and the rest need 5s and 6s to wound. Hah! weaker but not out of the fight.
... only triumph could turn pooing his pants into a good thing..
He is worth it. He is at his weakest against power weapons though, the lack of an armor save against a power weapon can be pretty rough on Mr. Yarrick.
In my games against the Blood Angels, he can usually hold his own against the entire death company.
