Hey all BA veterans please help me on what I shold get for my first BA 500pts.
For my HQ, I've decided on DC Chap w/jump pack and BP(rules CC ), that's 216pts, so I have 284pts left for some fire support and 2 troop selections. I was thinking of CC scouts since they set up nice and they can use the Furious Charge ability (Y) better than Tac squads. But I want some ML too...
What do u guys think? And can u relate ur personal experience?
With that few leftover points your basically looking at a scout squad a Tac squad and a speeder.
5 man tac squad with ML.
9 man CC scout squad.
Speeder w/ AC + HB.
That will bring you to 498 points. I suppose you could go for two large tac squads or two large scout squads or a mix of those but I figured you asked because you wanted to actually ADD something to your HQ and 2 troop choices.

Efficiency VS Point Cost VS Ease Of Use - Your best bets:
1) Chaplain led Assault squad - 2 plasma pistols, powerfisted sergeant
2) 8 man Devastator squad - 4 missile launchers
3) Land Speeder Tornado - HB + AC
I would go with what Chaos said but you should really build a 1500pts or how ever high your going list and build like that so your overall force ends up with what you want (lol I have like 7 termies and 20+ tac guys and a chaplain sitting on my shelf because of building in small bounds). Although cc scouts seem great, you should considert there alternative (I own 20scouts myself). Sniper scouts are great because they infiltrate and can pin the enemy. Bolter scouts are great because for the pts you can rapid fire a huge amount of shots and the ability to infiltrate means you can get weak targets (my fav is shooting down a vyper that he THOUGHT was safe). They still are great for cc, just one less attack.

personally i have found a new respect for tactical squads...ive been playing for over 3 years as BA, and the tactical squads firepower is almost as awesome as them on the charge. If you fill up the rest of the points with tactical squads with flamers and missile launchers (or lascannons, or heavy bolters or plasma cannons depending on the enemy...pm me if you want more info here) you can bring everything forward, rapid fire the tactical squads and charge the chaplain and death co. into the unit you shot at...works a treat.
but if your set on scouts go for it. Just dont underestimate the importance of firepower in a BA army...i used to.
tactics and such are a different matter however
