Are they as good as some people make them out to be? I witnessed two games over the weekend and I saw one game where it was unstoppable and another where is died on the first turn and the space marine player was then whooped.
The main tactic I have seen them used for is intimidation. Both times mentioned above the SM played put the V on one flank and make a fire alley along the other. The plan was no one in their right mind would put infantry or a vechile in open sight of a V hence setting up everything on the opposite flank where the fire alley was with the rest of his army. Sounded pretty good to me. That was untill a Tau player with 4 railguns got first turn then the V was done for and the SM got mashed.
Well, that was poor planning on the part of the SM player. Against Tau (unless he is a suit freak), I feel that a Vindicator is overly vulnerable. IT would have been a better choice to have 2 whrilywinds instead, as Tau do not have indirect fire weapons .

against heavily armoured opponants, such as chaos, or numerous infantry based armies (yes i realise this covers pretty much everything but bear with me) they rock...however against armies like tau, where the firepower is awesome, things like heavy bolters are better suited to the task.
they work really well for intimidation, and if you land a demolisher shell ontop of a unit of marines or anything else for that matter, that unit is pretty much gone. Great for nuking units, and intimidation, but a waste of points if they will just die basically
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
I love vindicators, my firend takes like 2 sometimes 3! :realmad: i hate vs. that many! But i deal with it. Vindictators are not a waste of points, give it machine spiriit and there some worries gone, go 6" and pop a shot! BAM! DEATH TO ALL WHO OPPOSE THE EMPEROR!

Probably a good idea to look at this.....VINDICATOR DEBATE THREADOriginally posted by Pooky@Jan 22 2005, 05:38

Vindicators are amazing with LotD! you can deepstrike em and then blast away before enemies can get a chance to shoot you. Amazingly good against nids aswell
I use a vindicator because it forces my opponent to force his guys out so that when I assault they arn't all bunched up and make a fight out of it, usually resulting in a win for me. I also never deploy it in the open, always behind cover. Its of no use to me dead.

I use a vindicator in almost all my games, becuase its either my detterent against assualt attacks on me, My monolith killer, or my tank with a big sign that says SHOOT ME SHOOT ME SHOOT ME! So it saves the rest of my army.
